Toronto FC vs Montreal Impact Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Toronto returned to winning ways to get a 4-2 win over New York Red Bulls in the recent MLS match. Greg Vanney’s team almost came close to dropping points after goals from Gonzalo Veron and Daniel Royer had cancelled out the first-half brace from Justin Morrow. However, Victor Vasquez’ penalty and Justin Morrow’s injury time goal provided a win for Toronto. Montreal Impact’ poor form continued with the team losing 2-1 against Colorado Rapids. Stefan Aigner scored just before the break to give Colorado a lead. Even though Matteo Mancosu was able to equalise just after the hour, Alan Gordon scored with nine minutes left to give the home team a victory.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Montreal Impact were able to claim a surprise 5-3 win over Toronto in a recent game between the two clubs, but this was one of those freak results that could have gone anyway. Toronto have been severely hampered by the absence of Sebastian Giovinco for the last few matches, and the return of Jozy Altidore does help the team substantially. Even after the recent loss, Toronto continue to have a strong record against Montreal. I would back a win for Toronto FC.

Toronto have scored under 2.5 goals only once in the last nine MLS matches. Montreal have conceded more than 50 goals in the campaign and have one of the worst defensive records. There is a strong case to back Greg Vanney’s team to score more than 2.5 goals in the game.

Toronto FC Preview

After having claimed the Supporters Shield for the first time, Toronto will be looking to go one step ahead and claim the 2017 MLS Cup. The team was able to rediscover their winning form after having suffered back-to-back losses against Montreal Impact and New England Revolution in recent weeks. Both these losses were rather surprising, as Toronto did play reasonably well to deserve a victory. Still, it will be a key lesson for the club as they take on Montreal and Atalanta in the remaining two regular season matches. Top scorer Sebastian Giovinco has 15 goals for the season, but he has missed recent games due to an injury.

Toronto FC Team News

Sebastian Giovinco is doubtful for the game due to his thigh injury.

Montreal Impact Preview

Montreal Impact will not be able to finish in the top six places after falling seven behind New York Red Bulls following the latest round of results. The team only had a glimmer of qualification hopes coming into the last few weeks of the 2017 MLS season. However, Montreal may be looking to end the campaign on a high in order to build for the MLS 2018 campaign in a positive way. Montreal Impact’s major struggles this season were on the road as the team managed only three away wins. The biggest positive has been Ignacio Piatti scoring 17 goals in the league.

Montreal Impact Team News

Daniel Lovitz is suspended for the game, while Ambroise Oyongo (knee), Kyle Fischer (leg), Chris Duvall (ankle), and David Choiniere (ankle) are unavailable due to injuries.
