Torino Preview

A season of being one of the most entertaining sides in Serie A, and the whole of Europe, might have just done Torino a whole world of good last year. They were open at the back frequently, and despite their prowess going forward, they were constantly under threat. But now, that has changed a little through three matches this term. They have conceded just once, on opening day away to Bologna. Since then, they have two clean sheets. A 3-0 home win over Sassuolo is more of what you'd expect to see, but last weekend they won 0-1 away to Benevento to show that maybe they are starting to learn how to play ugly and win, too. They were made to work very hard for their three points, and it looked like it would be just a draw for them, but they weren't denied in the end as Iago Falque turned in a low, bullet finish after constructing the play out of midfield. If they can figure that out how to grind out results like this, they can be a real dark horse for a top six place as they have no European football to contend with.

Torino Team News

Center midfielder Joel Obi will miss out for an unknown period of time after injuring his hip muscle early in the going against Benevento last week. No other injures have taken their toll.

Sampdoria Preview

Sampdoria will come into this match against Torino with quite a bit of rest afforded to them. In fact, they might just be a little aggrieved that is too much rest. Footballers need regular football to stay in game fitness, and in order to keep their touches in order, and without playing in a couple of weeks now, this will prove to be a tough match for them. However, they do find themselves in good form on the table as they have two wins from two matches in the league. They might have had a poor end to preseason, but they have more than made up for it with their play to begin this season. They first won 2-1 at home over Benevento, and then they followed that with a 1-2 win away to Fiorentina last time out back on August 27th. On that day, they won thanks to goals from Gianluca Caprari and Fabio Quagliarella. Milan Badeji had pulled one back for Fiorentina, but it proved to be mere consolation at the end of the 90 minutes.

Sampdoria Team News

Sampdoria will once again be without goalkeeper Federico Viviano and left back Dodo due to their injuries. Viviano is closing in on a return shortly.
