Swansea City vs West Ham United Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Swansea City lost a five-game unbeaten run in the Premier League after a 4-1 loss against Brighton at the AMEX Stadium. Brighton were able to race to a 3-0 lead after a brace from Glen Murray and a second-half goal from Anthony Knockaert. An own goal from Lewis Dunk in the 85th minute was merely a consolation for Swansea, while the four-goal lead for Brighton was restored in injury time through Jurgen Locadia. The Welsh outfit later secured a 2-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday to reach the FA Cup quarter-finals. West Ham suffered a comprehensive 4-1 loss against Liverpool at Anfield last weekend. Emre Can’s opener in the 29th minute was enhanced by second-half goals from Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino. Even though Mikhail Antonio grabbed one for West Ham, Liverpool scored late on through Sadio Mane.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

West Ham have picked up three consecutive wins over Swansea, who had a game to forget against Brighton last weekend. Yet, Swansea have the potential to reverse the poor run against West Ham, as the Hammers enter into the game with back-to-back away defeats. Swansea, meanwhile, have six consecutive wins at Liberty Stadium in all competitions. I would back a win for Swansea City.

Carlos Carvalhal is a manager with a defensive attitude and he has seen his Swansea team pick up two 1-0 wins in the last three home games. West Ham’s scoring record on the road is quite impressive with goals in each of their last six trips. Hence, I see tremendous value in choosing both teams to score.

Swansea City win – 8/5

Both teams to score – 19/20

Swansea City Preview

Swansea City still remain in relegation trouble – even if the club has gone through a splendid run of form since Carlos Carvalhal came to the club. Up until now, Swansea have been extremely hard to beat under the regime of the former Sheffield Wednesday manager, but there is a potential for the heavy loss against Brighton to cascade into the upcoming matches. Swansea have shown the classic sign of a relegation-threatened team progressing further in the cup competitions, as the team beat Wednesday to reach the quarter-finals of the FA Cup. This could be a further distraction for the Welsh outfit, whose top scorer is Jordan Ayew with five goals.

Swansea City Team News

Carlos Carvalhal will be without Wilfried Bony (cruciate ligament), Leroy Fer (Achilles tendon), Renato Sanchez (hamstring), and Angel Rangel (groin) because of injury problems.

West Ham United Preview

David Moyes has seen his West Ham team slowly lose their confidence after two defeats in the last three matches. The hammers have done extremely well over the last couple of months to move closer towards the top 10 places rather than fight in the relegation battle. However, it may not take long for the London outfit to be pulled back into relegation trouble, as they only have an advantage of three points over Swansea. Marko Arnautovic is the top scorer that West Ham alongside Javier Hernandez – both players have seven league goals.

West Ham United Team News

Edimilson Fernandes (ankle), Pedro Obiang (collateral ligament), Patrice Evra (shin), and Andrew Carroll (foot) are on the treatment table while Arthur Masuaku is suspended for the match.
