Swansea City vs West Bromwich Albion Match Prediction

By William Hall

Swansea welcome West Brom to the Liberty Stadium on the 21/05/2017 for the final game of the 2016/17 season. Swansea come into this game with a huge weight of their shoulders after survival was confirmed last week as Hull lost. West Brom are still chasing an 8th position finish which would be a huge step for them, but they will need a win and hope other results go their way for that to happen. Read on for a full match preview complete with team news, betting tips and predictions.

Betting predictions and predictions

Swansea have put together some great form at home of late, losing just once in their previous seven. They have beat the likes of Southampton, Leicester and Everton in those games, showing they can compete in the league. West Brom have dropped of massively at this late stage of the season, not winning in eight and losing six of them. I can’t see them being at their best this weekend and with only 8th up for grabs, I think they will struggle to get anything from this one.

Swansea City Preview

At the beginning of the season, it looked as if Swansea were going to be relegated. This went on for some time, but the appointment of Paul Clement turned the tables completely and they will now play in the Premier League for another season. They can go into this game without having to worry about relegation which may actually work in their favour. Playing under pressure can be tough and with that now off, they can really show what they have got. Swansea best player this season has been Iceland international Gylfi Sigurdsson. His leadership in this Swansea team is what keeps them together at times and his delivery and shot from set pieces is up there with one of the best in the league. Swansea need to keep hold of his this summer, but that could be tough with the likes of Southampton and West Brom interested. If Swansea could just add a couple more good signings, they could be real threat in the league. Llorente was another big player for the side this season and will be so important to them next season. He is one of the only players in the Swansea team that looks good when playing against the top sides in the league. Looking at the stats coming into this one, you would think Swansea win this one hands down. They have put some great form together on home turf and don’t look as if they will throw that anytime soon.

Swansea City Team News

West Brom have had a much improved season, but have died of right at the end. It is known that teams tend to drop off once they have reached the 40 point mark and know they are safe. West Brom are a perfect example for that this season. They come into this one without a win in six games, losing six of them in that time. They will be keen to finish the season well, but with them being low in confidence at the moment, I think they will struggle to overcome an inform Swansea. West Brom have been a side improving season after season and under Pulis they have looked even better. The thing they will need to look at going into the 2017/18 season is the consistency in performances, which will lead to consistency in results. Salomon Rondon has been the biggest threat for the Baggies this season, scoring eight goals for the Midlands team. If they are to turn into a team who are going to challenge for Europe, they will need a player who is going to score more goals each season. This may be something they look to add in the summer. Al the beginning of the season, West Brom were solid defensively, they will need to keep that kind of level up for the whole season if they are going to start to compete higher up the table.
