Swansea City vs Stoke City Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Swansea City are on the verge of relegation from the Premier League after a 1-0 defeat against rivals Southampton at Liberty Stadium. After a goalless first half, the decisive moment in Swansea’s Premier League campaign came in the 72nd minute when Southampton broke the deadlock through Manolo Gabbiadini. There was no way back for Swansea in the remaining 18 minutes. A brilliant comeback from Crystal Palace led to a 2-1 defeat for Stoke City, who were ultimately relegated from the Premier League as a result. Even though Xherdan Shaqiri provided the lead just two minutes before half-time, Palace came back with goals from James McArthur and Patrick van Aanholt.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

This game may overflow with emotions, as it is likely to see the departure of two clubs who have had reasonably long spells in the Premier League. Stoke are winless in 13 matches while Swansea are not far behind after going through an eight-game run without a victory. However, Swansea have an outside chance of survival and manager Carlos Carvalhal may try to push this fact to the players. This is likely to result in a decent performance from Swansea and I would go with a home win.

The major issue for both clubs has been a lack of goals and this is especially true in the case of Swansea. The Welsh team has come up with only two goals in the last six games and have also failed to score in the last four. I would expect a low scoring game in this fixture.

Swansea City Preview

Swansea will look to draw an end to their seven-year spell in the Premier League in a positive fashion. The team came to the top flight via the play-offs in the 2010-11 campaign. However, the last three years have been quite difficult on Swansea, who managed to pick up the first major piece of silverware in the 2012-13 campaign, and it is almost certain to culminate in a relegation on the final day. Over the course of the campaign, Swansea can have few complaints about relegation. Carlos Carvalhal’s arrival at the start of 2018 did provide a spark which ultimately faded away.

Swansea City Team News

Kyle Bartley (knee), Wilfried Bony (cruciate ligament), and Leroy Fer (Achilles tendon) are missing from action for Swansea.

Stoke City Preview

The 10-year spell in the Premier League has come to a difficult end for Stoke City, who may undergo vast changes. It is expected that the changes may not be limited with regard to the playing staff, as fans have been calling for the departure of Peter Coates. Stoke City’s relegation has been coming since the team struggled badly in the 2016-17 campaign. The failure to make good signings in the summer led to Mark Hughes’ departure midway through the campaign and Paul Lambert has been unable to make an impact even after several months at the club.

Stoke City Team News

Bruno Martins Indi (groin) and Konstantinos Stafylidis (rib) are unavailable for Paul Lambert.
