Swansea City vs Sheffield United Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Saturday early evening (17:30) fixture features the side in second on the road to the team in 13th. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Swansea stretched their league unbeaten record to three and four in all competitions with a 1-1 draw at Preston. Courtney Baker-Richardson had given them the lead but they were pegged back five minutes later and honours even was a fair reflection of the fixture.

Sheffield United moved into second with their fourth straight league victory as they defeated QPR 1-0. A David McGoldrick goal proved the difference between the two sides in a game low on chances.

The reverse fixture came at Bramall Lane on the opening day of the season and was won 2-1 by the Swans. George Baldock had put United ahead but a goal each from Ollie McBurnie and Yan Dhanda proved the difference.

Betting Tips and Predictions

This is one of those strange games where you could make an argument that both teams are value. Sheffield United are flying high at the moment but Swansea are perhaps not been given enough respect as the home team.

Both teams score around 60% of their goals in the second-half so backing this to be the highest scoring 45 minutes appeals. As does waiting for this game to have a goal as both teams will start cautious, take no early goal which is set at 29:00.

Swansea City Preview

It is five points from their last three for the Swans through just one win in their last five is keeping them firmly in mid-table. They are 13th and sit six off the play-offs with a total of 19 matches remaining.

At the Liberty, the Welsh side have won just one of their last five though these defeats did come against Norwich, West Brom and Aston Villa. Six of their last eight at their own place have seen both teams score and gone over 2.5 goals.

Swansea have been involved in goals lately with their last seven league matches seeing a combined 25 of them. Mike van der Hoorn has been an unlikely source with two in his last three appearances.

Swansea City Team News

Tom Carroll (hip) is a doubt while Ollie McBurnie (illness) is expected to return. Martin Olsson (Achilles) has been ruled out for the season.

Sheffield United Preview

The Blades have taken 13 points from their last five fixtures to move themselves into second and the automatic promotion spot. Chris Wilder and his side still have to face a number of their promotion rivals over the next few weeks.

Away from Bramall Lane, the Yorkshire outfit are unbeaten in their last five winning three and drawing twice. They have played four times on the road to top ten sides this campaign and lost them all.

Sheffield United have looked strong at the back in recent weeks keeping clean sheets in their last three and conceding just two in five. They have also scored ten times in their last four with David McGoldrick and Billy Sharp both bagging four in four.

Sheffield United Team News

Jake Wright (broken cheekbone) is their only injury doubt ahead of this fixture.
