Swansea City vs Queens Park Rangers Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Saturday afternoon (15:00) fixture features two sides in the middle third of the Championship.  Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Swansea are now without a victory in three following a goalless draw at Middlesbrough last weekend.  The Swans barely created a chance themselves but did well to restrict their opponents.

QPR saw their four-game unbeaten run come to an end with a 1-0 home defeat against Norwich last weekend.  They also crashed out of the League Cup in midweek losing 2-0 at League One side Blackpool.

These two sides were in different divisions last season so you have to go back to 2014/15 for their last meetings.  It is hard then to read too much into the head-to-heads but for what it worth the Welsh outfit are unbeaten in the last four.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Neither side are proving prolific enough to back at the current moment in the match markets so I would look elsewhere to find the value.  Under 2.5 goals is covered well but look to oppose the time of the first team goal with two sides who practice caution first. For Swansea this is set at 53:00 while for QPR it is 65:00.

Swansea City Preview

The Swans won their first two fixtures but since have managed to win just one of their next seven.  They sit 14th in the table with 13 points and two of their next three are against bottom-half sides.

At the Liberty Stadium, they are without a victory in their last three with two of these ending in a draw.  The quartet of matches the Welsh side have played in front of their own fans this season has produced a total of six goals with four of these coming in one fixture.

Only two sides have scored a lower amount than the seven Swansea have netted with four of these from one player in Ollie McBurnie.  Their defence is strong though with only Middlesbrough (3) conceding a lower total than the six they have shipped.

Swansea City Team News

Bersant Celina (ankle), Leroy Fer (groin) and Jefferson Montero (thigh) are doubts while Martin Olsson (groin) is a long-term absentee.  Courtney Baker-Richardson is available following a suspension.

Queens Park Rangers Preview

Defeat last time out put to an end a nice spell of form for the Rs that had seen them gain all ten of their points from the previous four.  They now face just one side in the current top eight in their next seven.

Away from Loftus Road, they have two defeats, one draw and one victory which came at Bolton on their last road trip.  They have conceded nine on their travels this season though seven of these came in a loss to West Brom.

QPR are the joint-third lowest scorers with just seven goals netted with Eberechi Eze (three) the only player to have netted more than once.  The defence has shipped 15 times but if you take out the seven against the Baggies it is just eight from the other eight.

Queens Park Rangers Team News

Sean Goss (back) is a doubt while Grant Hall (knee), Darnell Furlong (ligament) and Olamide Shodipo (thigh) are set to miss the next few months.
