Betting Tips and Predictions

It’s tough to see any team, let alone Swansea, stopping Manchester City at present, especially after such a huge result last time out. With the confidence of the win at United in their sails, I’m expecting an away win here.

Swansea City Preview

Paul Clement claimed arguably his biggest victory as Swansea manager thus far on Saturday after a hugely-important 1-0 win over fellow strugglers West Brom at the weekend.
To their credit, the Swans looked to play on the front foot and be proactive in their battle for the three points, putting a total of 12 attempts on target but were forced to wait until 10 minutes from time for the opener. Wilfried Bony scored his second goal in as many games to give his side the three points, equalling his entire goal return from last season with Stoke in the process. The Ivorian is beginning to look fitter and sharper with each passing week and Clement will know what an asset he can be to this team, having scored 26 goals in his debut season at the Liberty Stadium, 17 of which came in the Premier League. After going eight games without a win before the defeat to West Brom, defeat last time out could’ve brought an end to Clement’s time in charge, as he now looks to navigate a tricky Christmas period. Swansea face Everton, Crystal Palace, Liverpool and Watford after Man City before the turn of the year, with the Palace game in particular being a stand-out six-pointer. An unlikely victory here would be the first time the team have won back-to-back game all season, last doing so in May of this year.

Swansea City Team News

Kyle Bartley (knee) is Swansea’s only absentee here.

Manchester City Preview

Pep Guardiola will have his eyes on making Premier League history on Wednesday night, after seeing his side equal a record 15 consecutive wins in the top flight with a convincing 2-1 win over title rivals Manchester United. In truth, the result was never in much doubt at Old Trafford, with City controlling the tempo throughout as they took the lead in the 43rd minute through David Silva. Marcus Rashford pulled United level just before half-time, but the away side restored their lead just nine minutes into the second-half through defender Nicolas Otamendi, and despite missing a number of chances to well and truly put the game to bed, they held on to move 11 points clear at the top of the table after just 16 games. With that victory, many have crowned City champions elect after starting the season with 15 wins and a draw from their first 16 matches, boasting with that a +37 goal difference. Guardiola has emphatically proved his doubters wrong this season, proving to have far too much for his contemporaries thus far and a win on Wednesday night would see his team break Arsenal’s record for consecutive victories in the Premier League. Chelsea have already conceded the title is gone, while it looks a huge uphill battle for United to close the gap and it would not be surprising to see this team surpass numerous Premier League records this season.

Manchester City Team News

City are beginning to suffer something of a defensive crisis, with John Stones (hamstring) and Benjamin Mendy (cruciate ligament) both missing, while Vincent Kompany is also a doubt after limping off against Manchester United.
