Swansea City vs Leicester City Match Prediction

By Dean Carr

Swansea City host Leicester City at the Liberty Stadium on 21/10/17 as the away side play their first game without sacked manager Craig Shakespeare. Swansea picked up an important 2-0 win away to Huddersfield Town last weekend, as the Foxes drew 1-1 at home to West Brom. Read on for a full match preview complete with betting tips and predictions.

Betting Tips and Predictions

The mood around Leicester is unlikely to be a particularly buoyant one, after a stretch of disappointing results and a sacked manager. For Swansea meanwhile, their positive result should give them a real confidence boost and I can see them making it back-to-back wins this weekend.

Swansea City Preview

Paul Clement believed it was only a matter of time before his team were able to get three points on the board once again and his prediction came to fruition as he saw his side cruise to a 2-0 win over Huddersfield Town. Tammy Abraham was the match winner for the Swans, scoring three minutes either side of half-time as he continues to develop and gain confidence as a Premier League player. If they are able to stay clear of the bottom three this season, the Swans will need to rely on such performances from the likes of Abraham, with the team having struggled in front of goal since the departures of Gylfi Sigurdsson and Fernando Llorente. Improving at home is another aim for Swansea, who secured their first victory of the season at the Liberty Stadium by winning against Huddersfield last weekend, having also ended last season with three wins on the bounce at home. Currently 13th in a congested bottom half of the table, they could mathematically finish anywhere between 9th and 18th by the end of this weekend, proving just how important it is that they are able to get points on the board early in the season.

Swansea City Team News

Leroy Fer is suspended and misses out for the Swans this weekend. Kyle Bartley (knee) is ruled out, while Renato Sanches (thigh) is a doubt.

Leicester City Preview

Craig Shakespeare’s time as Leicester manager came crashing to an end on Monday night as his team failed once again to pick up three points at home to West Bromwich Albion. The Foxes were once again disappointing from a performance perspective, struggling to really excite with a lack of imagination in the team. Nacer Chadli gave the Baggies the lead in the 63rd minute, but Riyad Mahrez salvaged a point for the hosts with an equaliser ten minutes from time, but it wasn’t enough to save Shakespeare or keep Leicester out of the bottom three. It was always going to be a tough start for Leicester when looking at their opening fixtures, though their recent performances against teams in and around the bottom half of the table have perhaps contributed most heavily to his departure. After failing to beat Huddersfield, Bournemouth and West Brom in recent weeks, the board’s reasoning for the decision has perhaps become more understandable. Leicester are without a win in six games in the Premier League, winning just once from their first eight games in total, with confidence low amongst the squad at this moment in time.

Leicester City Team News

Robert Huth (ankle) may return to the bench after coming through training, though Leonardo Ulloa (head) is doubtful. Matty James (achilles) is out through injury.
