Swansea City vs Birmingham City Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Tuesday evening (19:45) fixture features two sides looking to edge their way into the play-offs before the end of the season. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Swansea last played in the league on the 19th when they defeated Sheffield United 1-0 thanks to a Ollie McBurnie goal. They hosted Gillingham in the FA Cup Fourth Round on Saturday and won 4-1 with Ollie McBurnie grabbing a brace and one each for Bersant Celina and Barry McKay.

Birmingham were eliminated in the Third Round of the FA Cup so they had the weekend off to build for this game. Their last league fixture came on the 18th where they went to Carrow Road and lost 3-1 at Norwich despite a 14th minute Che Adams goal.

The reverse fixture came in mid-August at St Andrew’s and it ended goalless that day with neither team able to break the deadlock. It will mark the return to the Liberty Stadium for Gary Monk who played over 200 games for the Welsh side and managed them in the Premier League.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Swansea are the most likely winners of the game and while I could not put anyone off backing them at the odds I am happy to leave alone on a side that have won just six of their last 14 at home and have injury issues.  Birmingham through were poor at Carrow Road last time so I could not be siding with them.

Both teams to score seems to be a sensible bet given that this has happened in six of the last nine in the league at the Liberty Stadium and the Blues have netted at least once in each of their last ten on the road.

Che Adams is a threat on the road and given the injury issues at the back I like the look of him to score at any time. He netted against Norwich and has six in his last nine Championship appearances.

YES in the both teams to score market

Swansea City Preview

The Swans have come into form at the right time with two victories and two draws from their last four in the league. They sit 11th in the table six points off the play-offs and three of their next four are against top 14 sides.

At the Liberty Stadium, the Welsh outfit have been a mixed bag of late with two victories, one draw and two defeats in their last five. Three of their last five and six of their last nine in the league here have seen both teams net.

Ollie McBurnie is their leading goalscorer this season with 11 league goals with seven of these being the opener. No other Swansea player has scored more than five this season with Bersant Celina next with four.

Swansea City Team News

Joe Rondon (foot) has been ruled out for eight weeks while Martin Olsson (Achilles) has been ruled out for the season.  Tom Carroll (hip), Kyle Naughton (knee), Wayne Routledge (calf) and Joel Asoro (illness) are all doubts.

Birmingham City Preview

The Blues are without win in four in the league with the last two ending in defeats through these came against Middlesbrough and Norwich. They sit 13th in the table which is seven off the play-offs though off pitch issues might see them suspended points.

Away from St Andrew’s, the Midlands side had gone four unbeaten in the league before that defeat at Norwich. They have managed to net at least once in each of their last ten on the road.

Che Adams is their leading scorer with 14 goals and this includes three in his last three and six in nine. Lukas Jutkiewicz has also weighed in with ten goals while the returning Isaac Vassell will hope to start getting amongst the goals after a lengthy absence.

Birmingham City Team News

David Davis (ankle) is a doubt while Omar Bogle and Marc Roberts (both calf) are long-term absentees.
