Betting Tips and Predictions

This is a genuine and perhaps unexpected six-pointer, with both of these sides perhaps holding aspirations of finishing in the top half this season. With both in poor form, I can see this being a draw.

Stoke City Preview

The pressure on Mark Hughes at the Bet365 Stadium was further intensified last time out, as he watched his Stoke team fall to a huge blow of a result, losing 3-0 at home to West Ham United. The Hammers started the game in the bottom three and ended it above even Stoke, with Mark Noble’s 19th minute penalty setting them on their way. Further second half efforts from former Potter Marko Arnautovic and Diafra Sakho added to Stoke’s misery, particularly in the way of the former’s goal, with the Austrian leaving in the summer to join a “bigger club”. Calls for Hughes’ head had been present before even the start of this season and the volume of such calls has only increased ever since. In the case of Hughes, West Ham were perhaps the worst side to inflict such a defeat over his team, given they are a prime example of the effect a managerial change and fresh ideas can have on a team. Winning just one of their last eight, Stoke now find themselves just a single point above the relegation zone as the season reaches the halfway stage and it is fixtures such as this that they will need to take maximum points from to drag themselves away from the bottom three.

Stoke City Team News

Bruno Martins Indi (groin) is a long-term absentee, while Glen Johnson (knee), Kurt Zouma (hamstring) and Jese (personal reasons) are all unlikely to feature.

West Bromwich Albion Preview

The wait for a West Bromwich Albion win continued last weekend as a brave display from the Baggies brought no reward, losing 2-1 at home to Manchester United. Romelu Lukaku came back to haunt the side he enjoyed a successful loan spell with in 2012/13 with an excellent header to give United the lead, before Jesse Lingard continued his excellent scoring form with the team’s second ten minutes before half-time. Substitute Gareth Barry ensured it would be a nervy ending for United with his equaliser in the 77th minute, but the Baggies couldn’t build on the veteran’s effort as their winless streak was maintained. Baggies fans will have gone four months without seeing their team secure a win by the time this contest comes around, last tasting success during a 3-1 win over Accrington Stanley in the League Cup. Winning just twice in the Premier League all season, both of those victories were narrow, gritty, Tony Pulis 1-0 wins against Bournemouth and Burnley, while their meeting with Stoke finished 1-1 at The Hawthorns. Pardew has picked up just two points from his first four games as West Brom manager, but will see this as a real opportunity to finally bring an end to this barron spell.

West Bromwich Albion Team News

Craig Dawson (knee) and James Morrison (achilles) are ruled out, while Matt Phillips and Nacer Chadli (both hamstring) will both be assessed.
