Stoke City host Swansea City at the Bet365 Stadium on 02/12/17 in what has quickly become a must-win game for both the teams and managers alike. Betting Tips and Predictions

The severity of the slumps both these teams find themselves in could genuinely see either manager lose their job, should they lose here. With both out of form, I’m expecting home advantage to aid Stoke and for them to claim a narrow win.

Stoke City Preview

Mark Hughes was left feeling hard done by on Wednesday night, believing that the game turned on a refereeing decision as they eventually lost 3-0 to Liverpool. Sadio Mane put the away side in front in the 17th minute, but the game’s controversial moment came soon after, as Mame Biram Diouf rounded Simon Mignolet and was tripped by the Belgian goalkeeper, who escaped the incident with just a yellow card. Stoke had their chances after that, namely through Joe Allen, but were caught cold by the blistering Liverpool attack, as Mohamed Salah scored a six-minute brace after coming on as a second-half substitute. It now leaves Stoke without a win in their last four games in the Premier League, losing their last two in a row and have a total two wins from their last 12 fixtures. In truth, 2017 as a whole has been difficult for Hughes and Stoke, who have won just five of their 25 league games this calendar year and things look to have gone stale under the current regime. Even Stoke’s home form has dipped in recent weeks, now finding themselves without a win in three at the Bet365 Stadium - they have only gone four home games without a win once in the last four years. The fear for Hughes is he may suffer the same fate of Tony Pulis, with fans opinions beginning to sway against him, but a victory here could buy him some precious time in his bid to turn their season around.

Stoke City Team News

Geoff Cameron (concussion) is unlikely to be available, while Jack Butland (broken finger) is in contention to feature.

Swansea City Preview

Chelsea away is hardly a game Swansea would circle on their calendar as a guaranteed three points, but the defeatist nature of their performance at Stamford Bridge will have been especially concerning as they lost 1-0 at Stamford Bridge. Paul Clement’s men managed just one attempt on target all game and the side heired a lack of belief throughout, eventually losing to an Antonio Rudiger header from close range. Without the ineligible Tammy Abraham, the team really struggled to ever stretch the Chelsea defence and cause problems, now going 428 minutes without scoring in the Premier League. Swansea remain in horrific form, now going seven games without a win, winning a total of just one of their previous ten in all competitions. It doesn’t get too much prettier when looking at their away form, currently finding themselves without a win in five on the road - scoring just one goal during that time. Relegation is beginning to look like an increasingly realistic possibility for this team and something needs to change very quickly if they are to escape their current plight, now finding themselves level on points with 20th-placed Crystal Palace.

Swansea City Team News

Kyle Bartley (knee) is ruled out, with Federico Fernandez also set to miss the game due to personal reasons.
