Betting Tips and Predictions

The pressure is beginning to grow on Mark Hughes once more, with Stoke struggling since the international break to put together complete performances. With that in mind, and Liverpool’s solid record against the Potters in recent seasons, I’m going for an away win.

Stoke City Preview

The missing ingredient to this Stoke City team was absent once again after the Potters threw away an early second-half lead away to bottom-of-the-league Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon. Xherdan Shaqiri’s excellent solo effort gave Mark Hughes’ men the lead nine minutes into the second half, though they stayed ahead for just two minutes after Ruben Loftus-Cheek responded for the home side. Then, with a draw beginning to look inevitable, Palace defender Mamadou Sakho popped up with a 92nd minute winner for Roy Hodgson’s team, who as a result left Stoke hovering just three points above the relegation zone. With that in mind, this is a game Hughes really can’t afford to lose and Liverpool may be the last side the Welshman would pick to face in such a scenario. Stoke have lost four straight Premier League games to Liverpool, as well as suffering defeat in their last three meetings at the Bet365 Stadium. It’s not too difficult to uncover why there is such discontent amongst Stoke fans at this moment in time, after the fans have witnessed their team win just one of their last five at home and just three league games in total all season.

Stoke City Team News

Stoke are set to be without Jack Butland (broken finger) and Geoff Cameron (concussion) for this meeting through injury.

Liverpool Preview

Sometimes it may feel as if a result isn’t meant to go your way and Jurgen Klopp must’ve been feeling that way after Chelsea fought back from a goal down to draw 1-1 with Liverpool. Mohamed Salah almost predictably scored against his former club on Saturday evening, finishing calmly in the area to give the home side the lead in the 65th minute, as the team looked to recover from their midweek catastrophe in Seville. It seemed as if they would go someway to atoning for that 3-3 draw until Willian’s overhit cross deceived Simon Mignolet and crept inside the far post to snatch a point for the away side with just five minutes to go. Despite losing just once in their last 12 matches in all competitions, Liverpool remain 6th in the Premier League table and still needing one more victory to guarantee qualification to the last 16 of the Champions League. Draws have been the primary reason for that fact, with the team drawing five of those aforementioned 12 matches and come into this game off the back of two successive ties. Klopp rotated his side for the visit of Chelsea on Saturday, though the likes of Gini Wijnaldum, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino could all return this weekend. Liverpool have had a mixed bag of results away from home this season, winning, losing and drawing two games apiece from their six on the road so far.

Liverpool Team News

Nathaniel Clyne (back) is ruled out, while Dejan Lovren (thigh) and Emre Can (muscle) are both doubts.
