Stoke City Preview

Stoke City picked up arguably the most shocking result of last weekend’s round of Premier League fixtures after travelling to in-form Watford and coming away with an impressive 1-0 victory as they themselves put their struggles behind them. Captain Darren Fletcher scored the game’s only goal, doing so after 16 minutes following a clever corner routine, with Xherdan Shaqiri clipping the ball to the Scot who volleyed in impressively from the edge of the box. Such ingenuity has been missing from the Potters’ play in recent weeks and it was a timely reminder that there is genuine attacking talent and creativity within this team. The result moved Stoke up to 14th in the table and provided the perfect response to disappointing back-to-back defeats against Manchester City and Bournemouth. In particular, the latter result was most damaging for Mark Hughes, who it seemed was really backed into a corner after losing to a team in the relegation zone. Stoke have earned a reputation for being a strong home team in the Premier League, but they will hope to improve on a return of just seven points from a possible 15 at the Bet365 Stadium this weekend.

Stoke City Team News

Both Bruno Martins Indi (calf) and Peter Crouch (back) face a race against time to be fit this weekend. Stephen Ireland (broken leg) remains absent.

Leicester City Preview

For their apparent struggles, Leicester highlighted just how worrying the current situation is at Everton after comfortably securing a 2-0 win at the King Power Stadium last Sunday. The Toffees are abundantly lacking pace and a genuine goal threat - two traits that typify the two goalscorers for the Foxes on the day. Jamie Vardy opened the scoring for Leicester in the 18th minute with a clinical finish, before Demarai Gray doubled their lead just before the hour mark. Claude Puel will have been extremely happy with the response of his players this weekend, all of whom looked motivated and ready for the fight, moving up to 11th in the Premier League table as a result of this most recent success. It also means that the Foxes are now unbeaten in their last five games in all competitions and have lost just once in their previous eight games. That run looks even more impressive when adding the fact that Leicester also unbeaten in their last three on the road, drawing twice and winning in their last outing at Swansea. A win here could move them into the top half of the table for the first time this season.

Leicester City Team News

Robert Huth (ankle) and Matty James (achilles) are both ruled out once again for the away side.
