Stoke City vs Leeds United Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Saturday afternoon (15:00) fixture sees the league leaders away to the side in 15th in the Championship. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Stoke stretched their winless run to four as Nathan Jones was beaten in his first game in charge going down 3-1 at Brentford despite A Benik Afobe goal. They also crashed out of the FA Cup in midweek with a 3-2 home loss to Shrewsbury despite a Tyrese Campbell brace.

Leeds bounced back to winning ways in the Championship with a 2-0 home success over Derby as they brushed off spygate. On the pitch, a goal each from Kemar Roofe and Jack Harrison handed them a deserved three points.

The reverse fixture came on the opening day of the season at Elland Road and saw United come out on top 3-1. Mateusz Klich, Pablo Hernandez and Liam Cooper bagged one each that day while Benik Afobe converted a penalty for the Potters.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Leeds comfortably saw off Derby last time out and should have few issues with a Stoke side who were abject at Brentford. These two sides will likely be a division apart next season and I take United to show their class here.

Stoke have struggled for goals recently but Nathan Jones is not the kind of manager to have his side sit back so back the Yorkshire outfit to win and both teams to find the back of the net also appeals.

Stoke City Preview

The Potters have taken just one point from their last four and sit in 15th place eight from the play-offs and 12 above relegation. Nathan Jones will need time to work with the squad to impart his views and style that was such a success at Luton.

At the BET365 Stadium, the Staffordshire side have lost just one of their last six though this did come last time here. Each of their last three and six of their last eight in front of their own fans have gone under 2.5 goals.

Stoke need to start finding some goals as they have netted on just two occasions from their last five in the Championship. They are also shipping goals having kept a clean sheet in just three of their last ten.

Stoke City Team News

Ibrahim Afellay (knee) is a long-term absentee otherwise the Potters have a clean bill of health.

Leeds United Preview

United have won just one of their last three but the form of others around them has allowed them to extend their lead at the top to four points. Promotion is in their hands but it remains to be seen if the league take any action over spying claims.

Away from Elland Road, the Yorkshire outfit have won three of their last four through did lose at Forest last time on their travels. Jack Clarke has bagged in the last two on the road while they have netted at least once in every trip this season.

Leeds are an entertaining watch at the moment with their last five league fixtures producing a total of 20 goals at an average of five per fixture. In four of their last five they have bagged at least two goals.

Leeds United Team News

Barry Douglas (muscle), Patrick Bamford, Izzy Brown (all knee) and Stuart Dallas (foot) are doubts while Gaetano Berardi (hamstring) is a long-term absentee. Kalvin Phillips will miss this one game through a suspension.
