Stoke City vs Everton Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Stoke City offered little against Manchester City on Monday night and ended up losing the game 2-0. Two goals from David Silva – in either half of the game – were sufficient to end the game as a contest after 50 minutes. Everton picked up a crucial 2-0 win over Brighton to move back into the top 10. The return of some key players paved way for a comfortable second-half win for Everton, as an own goal from Gaetan Bong kicked things off in the 60th minute. Cenk Tosun doubled the advantage in the 76th minute while a horrendous challenge saw Brighton’s Antony Knockaert receive a straight red in the 80th minute.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

The strong defensive record for Stoke was tested to the maximum against Manchester City, but Lambert’s team was still able to come away with a decent record. Stoke will ideally target three points from this game, as they are up against an opponent with the second worst away record in the division. Even though Everton will improve due to the return of players like Leighton Baines, I would back a win for Stoke City.

This is a fixture that has been predominantly filled with games that have had less than 2.5 goals. Apart from the match in February 2016, all of their last six meetings at the Bet365 stadium have been with less than 2.5 goals. I would go with the same, especially given the fairly attractive price.

Stoke City Preview

Stoke City have kept themselves within touching distance of safety. Manager Paul Lambert has been unable to get a win in the last five games, while the home win over Huddersfield is the only success the former Blackburn manager since taking over from Hughes. However, the big positive for Stoke is their ability to stay in the game due to a strong defensive record. Despite being in the bottom three, Stoke have conceded fewer goals than Manchester United, Arsenal, or Chelsea in the last six matches. However, Shaqiri remains the biggest asset for the club going forward.

Stoke City Team News

Lee Grant (wrist), Mame Diouf (shoulder), and Stephen Ireland (calf) are unavailable for action.

Everton Preview

The dreaded away game once again returns for Everton. Manager Sam Allardyce is desperate to end the club’s poor form on the road. The team has suffered five consecutive away defeats, and it is in sharp contrast to the four-game unbeaten run at Goodison Park. However, there is a good chance of Everton coming up with a strong away performance in the near future. The return of the solid back four makes a lot of difference. The major issue for Everton will be Wayne Rooney’s inability to end his goal drought, which is now into double figures.

Everton Team News

Ashley Williams is the player suspended for the game. Allardyce will also be without Theo Walcott (hamstring), Gylfi Sigurdsson (knee), James McCarthy (broken leg), Maarten Stekelenburg (hernia), Eliaquim Mangala (knee), Idrissa Gueye (illness), and Morgan Schneiderlin (illness).
