Stoke City vs Crystal Palace Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Stoke City kept their glimmer survival hopes alive after a surprise goalless draw against Liverpool at Anfield. Predictably, Mohamed Salah had the best chance of the game but the Egyptian was distracted to a certain extent by Jack Butland’s racing off his line. At the other end, Diouf had a couple of half chances to put Stoke in front. Crystal Palace produced a five-star performance to move within two points off the 40-point mark. Palace beat Leicester City 5-0 at Selhurst Park with goals from Wilfried Zaha, James McArthur, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Patrick van Aanholt, and Christian Benteke (penalty). Palace clearly took advantage of Marc Albrighton’s 56th-minute red card.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Palace have had the significant upper hand over Stoke City in recent meetings, as the London outfit has been able to get five wins of the last six. However, four of those victories have been at Selhurst Park. Stoke have displayed plenty of resilience, but they have been let down by the inability to turn draws into victories. Paul Lambert will see the home game against Crystal Palace as one big chance to achieve safety, while Roy Hodgson’s men can show complacency after hitting 38 points. I would go with a win for Stoke City.

Mame Biram Diouf may have scored one goal in his last 11 games, but his recent performances have been quite decent. The striker always puts 100% effort and the importance of this game may just propel him to even bigger performance. Diouf’s last three goals have been at the Bet365 stadium and I would back the striker to score anytime in the match.

Stoke City Preview

The lack of wins is turning into a huge problem for Paul Lambert, who has seen his Stoke City produce some decent performances – like in the recent game against Liverpool. However, the club may end up going down into the Championship due to a winless run that now stretches to 12 league games. The lack of a strong goalscorer is a key reason behind Stoke’s positioning in the bottom three; even though Mame Diouf is one of the hard-working players around, he has only contributed six goals in 33 league games.

Stoke City Team News

Eric Choupo-Moting (groin), Glen Johnson (groin), Bruno Martins Indi (groin), and Konstantinos Stafylidis (rib) are unavailable for Stoke City.

Crystal Palace Preview

The stellar victory over Leicester City has moved to Crystal Palace closer towards safety, as the London outfit could be effectively safe by the end of this weekend. Only a few weeks ago, the club were struggling with a mounting injury list and lack of confidence. However, crucial wins over Brighton and Huddersfield have helped Crystal Palace open up a sizeable advantage over the relegation-threatened teams. Now, there is even the likelihood of Palace finishing in the top 10 places – which looked almost improbable only at the start of March. Wilfried Zaha’s form has been a crucial factor behind Palace finding the winning touch once again.

Crystal Palace Team News

Scott Dann (cruciate ligament), Bakary Sako (broken ankle), and Jason Puncheon (cruciate ligament) are the three players missing from action for Roy Hodgson.
