Stoke City vs Brighton & Hove Albion Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Stoke City’s two-game unbeaten run concluded with the team losing 2-1 against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium. Xherdan Shaqiri scored the opening goal after just five minutes, but Eddie Howe’s team made the most out of their recent form with two late goals in the second half. Joshua King and Lys Mousset were responsible for the comeback. Brighton were able to pick up a significant 3-1 victory over West Ham at the AMEX stadium. Glen Murray provided the opening goal after eight minutes, but Javier Hernandez provided a moment of quality to equalise the scores in the 30th minute. Jose Izquierdo, though, scored one of the incredible goals of the campaign before Brighton made the game safe with Pascal Gross’ 75th minute goal.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Stoke have had a strong record against Brighton in the past after managing to win five consecutive matches – before the 2-2 stalemate earlier in the campaign. Home advantage is a crucial element for Stoke, who have lost only once in the recent four matches at the Bet365 stadium. Meanwhile, Brighton are without an away victory in seven. I would go with a victory for Stoke City.

The previous meeting back in November saw a total of four goals, but this is a game which is expected to have much less number of goals. Stoke have kept back-to-back clean sheets at home, while Brighton have been unable to score in four out of the last five away games. I would back under 2.5 goals in this fixture.

Stoke City Preview

Stoke City dropped back into the bottom three of the Premier League after briefly rising out of the relegation places. The defeat against Bournemouth is the first loss for the club in three Premier League 2017-18 games. The lack of trust up front is the big worry for Paul Lambert, whose teams do not generally score a lot of goals. Lambert has seen Stoke only manage three goals in the last six games, while the club continue to struggle with the threat of relegation. Stoke have especially struggled when it comes to away matches, as the team has been able to get just a draw in the last six. Mame Diouf and Xherdan Shaqiri are the top scorers at the club with five goals each.

Stoke City Team News

There are no injury or suspension worries for Stoke City manager Paul Lambert.

Brighton & Hove Albion Preview

The victory over West Ham has now taken Brighton to an unbeaten run of two matches – it improves to 3 matches if all competitions are taken into account. It is still far cry from the unbeaten run achieved during October, when the team went five matches without defeat. As a result of picking up just one win in the last six league matches, Brighton have been remaining in the vicinity of the bottom three. The team may be 14th in the standings, but only three points separates them from the bottom three. Glen Murray is the club’s top scorer with eight league goals.

Brighton & Hove Albion Team News

Jiri Skalak (ankle) is the only player on the sidelines for Brighton manager Chris Hughton.
