Betting Tips and Predictions

Bournemouth can take heart from the fact they fought hard away to Spurs last time out, losing narrowly after a 1-0 defeat. Stoke meanwhile will have a real chip on their shoulder, but I’m not expecting a Bournemouth defeat this weekend.

Stoke City Preview

Any team could suffer the fate of Stoke City last weekend, though that won’t numb the pain for the Potters after they suffered a 7-2 defeat at Manchester City. Three goals inside half an hour from Gabriel Jesus, Raheem Sterling and David Silva gave City a three-goal advantage, though Mame Biram Diouf and a Kyle Walker own goal made things interesting as Stoke pulled it back to 3-2. That, though, seemed to be somewhat of a blip for City, who stormed home and dry thanks to four second half goals courtesy of Jesus, Fernandinho, Leroy Sane and Bernardo Silva. Mark Hughes was in somewhat of a complimentary mood following the defeat, with some of City’s attacking football on the day good enough to carve open any team in world football. That won’t disillusion Hughes in anyway, with the Welshman experienced enough to know all about the ruthless nature of football, and he will have to start getting results before his job is called into question. Stoke will now be looking to win back-to-back home games - something they last accomplished in March.

Stoke City Team News

Both Ryan Shawcross (back) and Joe Allen (concussion) are doubtful. Stephen Ireland (broken leg) is still missing for Stoke.

AFC Bournemouth Preview

Tottenham Hotspur away is the kind of fixture which is generally considered to be a bonus for teams like Bournemouth, but the Cherries were unable to capitalise as Mauricio Pochettino’s team edged out as 1-0 winners. Christian Eriksen scored the game’s only goal goal shortly after half-time to seal the win at Wembley Stadium, though Bournemouth had their own chances, coming closest when Jermain Defoe struck the post as the team went in search of an equaliser. As such, it’s still just one victory in eight games for a Bournemouth team who have performed well below expectations so far this season, currently finding themselves 19th in the table - just a point ahead of 20th-placed Crystal Palace after eight games. Away from home, Bournemouth have really struggled thus far, losing all four of their trips on the road this season, three of which have come against Arsenal. Everton and Tottenham. Known as an open, attacking team, Bournemouth have scored just four Premier League goals this term and will need more production from strikers Josh King and Jermain Defoe who have only scored a single goal each.

AFC Bournemouth Team News

Adam Federici (knee) and Tyrone Mings (back) are both absent for the Cherries. Brad Smith (hip) and Ryan Fraser (hamstring) are doubts.
