St.Johnstone vs Rangers Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

St Johnstone fell to a second defeat in three matches, as they were beaten 3-0 by Aberdeen at the Pittodrie Stadium. Adam Rooney came up with a hat-trick to put the game beyond St Johnstone, who did not create any meaningful opportunity over the 90 minutes. Rangers returned to winning ways with a 4-1 win over Hamilton. Daniel Redmond opened the scoring inside the first minute to stun Rangers, but Declan John’s four-minute brace helped Rangers get ahead in front. Despite playing with 10 men for much of the second half due to Ryan Jack’s red card, Rangers were able to get a comfortable win with Candeias and Graham Dorrans scoring further goals. Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Rangers were able to win the last two games against St Johnstone without exception. In fact, Tommy Wright’s team have claimed just one win in the recent five meetings against this opponent and even the solitary victory was in the Scottish League Cup. St Johnstone’s current form is a shadow of the run that they displayed in the first few games. Rangers, meanwhile, have picked up three wins in four away games, as Pedro Caixinha’s men seem happier to play away from the Ibrox at this moment. I would back a win for Rangers. St Johnstone have scored in four out of their last five league matches and this record is identical to that of Rangers. Despite a good run of form in recent weeks, Rangers have not kept a clean sheet in five. There have been no clean sheets in the recent five meetings between the two teams. I would back both teams to score a goal in this game.

St.Johnstone Preview

St Johnstone’s strong start to the season has slowly wilted away with the team managing just one win in the last five games. The solitary victory came at the McDiarmid Park, which may also hold the key towards manager Tommy Wright reviving the club’s fortunes. Last season, the team had a decent home record with eight wins in 19 games. This time around, the team are unbeaten in four league matches at the McDiarmid Park – in fact dropping just two points out of a possible 12 at home. Michael O’Halloran is the leading scorer at St Johnstone with five goals in six matches.

St.Johnstone Team News

St Johnstone have Ricky Foster unavailable due to suspension.

Rangers Preview

Rangers showed plenty of grit and determination to secure a comfortable win over Hamilton despite playing with 10 men for much of the second half. This result – in an away game – was especially important for Rangers after the club’s home defeat against Celtic. This victory meant that the team went into the international break with a positive frame of mind and manager Pedro Caixinha will be looking to resume league football with positivity. Rangers have been in fine scoring form at the start of the 2017-18 Scottish Premier League season with Alfredo Morelos scoring six in eight matches.

Rangers Team News

Pedro Caixinha will be without Lee Wallace (groin) due to injury.
