St.Johnstone vs Hearts Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

St Johnstone managed an impressive 3-1 win over Rangers to spark a revival. Rangers appeared to be in for a comfortable evening when Alfredo Morelos scored after five minutes, but Blair Alston equalised the scores just five minutes later. Goals from Denny Johnstone and Graham Cummins – in the space of 10 second-half minutes – provided a shock win for St Johnstone. Hearts managed the biggest shock of the Scottish Premier League 17/18 season after beating Celtic 4-0 during the weekend. Goals from Harry Cochrane, Kyle Lafferty, and Manuel Milinkovic (2) inflicted the first defeat for Celtic after a record 69 matches.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

The St Johnstone outfit may have picked up three consecutive away wins, but their last home victory was back in September when the team beat Hamilton. Hearts are on a three-game winning sequence, but home advantage has been a significant factor behind this run. Hearts may have a decent away record with just two losses in the last five, but this fixture has been St Johnstone’s stronghold – four wins in the last six meetings. I would go with a win for St Johnstone. Hearts have Kyle Lafferty and Esmael Goncalves on good form, and it has helped the club score at least once in seven out of the last eight SPL matches. St Johnstone have kept just two clean sheets at the McDiarmid Park this season. I see value in going with both teams to score.

St Johnstone win – 15/8

Both teams to score – 10/11

Hearts have conceeded only 4 goals in their last 10 games

St.Johnstone Preview

The revival in St Johnstone’s form may have been sparked by unexpected wins over Hibernian and Hamilton, but such results will be quickly forgotten after the team’s impressive win over Rangers. St Johnstone have had a difficult time for the last couple of months, but this victory has the potential to spark the club back into life. This win has also put St Johnstone back into the top six by displacing Motherwell. All of a sudden, even fourth place Hibernian appear to be in within the reach for Tommy Wright’s team. Steve MacLean and Michael O’Halloran are the leading scorers at the club with five goals each.

St.Johnstone Team News

Murray Davidson (malleolar) is the only injury concern for St Johnstone coming into the match.

Hearts Preview

Hearts will be overjoyed at the club’s biggest result of the season – and perhaps for a few more years to come. The team has been building up for such a result with some excellent performances at the new Tynecastle stadium. A major challenge for the club will be to replicate this performance in the first away match in almost two months. The last away match for the club was towards the end of October and they have since been involved in a string of home matches. Unbeaten in the last six matches, Hearts will be looking to build on the three-point advantage over St Johnstone. Esmael Goncalves (6) and Kyle Lafferty (7) have been key players for Hearts with 13 goals between them.

Hearts Team News

Ashley Smith-Brown (groin), Rory Currie (torn ligament), and Arnaud Djoum (Achilles tendon) are the players unavailable for Craig Levein.
