St.Johnstone vs Dundee FC Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

St Johnstone are showing signs of getting back to their best and the team were able to get a 1-1 draw with Ross County during the midweek action. Denny Johnstone’s goal in the second minute was cancelled out by a contentious penalty from Alex Schalk in the 54th minute. Dundee suffered a narrow 2-0 loss against champions Celtic at home. A goal from James Forrest inside the 10th minute opened the scoring, while Leigh Griffiths put the game beyond Dundee’s reach with the 43rd minute goal. Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

In the last five meetings between St Johnstone and Dundee, the home team has come out on top in each game. Dundee’s last away victory against St Johnstone was a narrow 1-0 success back in 2014. Since then, St Johnstone have claimed three wins in the four meetings at McDiarmid Park. After having just recovered close to their best form, St Johnstone are in a good shape coming into the game. I would go with a victory for the home team. This is a game tailor-made for witnessing under 2.5 goals, as a whopping 10 out of the last 11 home games for St Johnstone – against this opponent – has been a low scoring fixture. Recent form also points out towards the same. I would choose under 2.5 goals in the game.

St.Johnstone Preview

St Johnstone have put behind their disappointing run in the months of September and October, as the club were able to regain a place in the top six following the midweek results. St Johnstone have been able to leapfrog Kilmarnock while having played the same number of games as Steve Clarke’s team. This is down to a run of just one defeat in the last five league matches. Even though Tommy Wright has seen his team score only five goals in this period, some of the positive elements include the two clean sheets. Steve MacLean and Michael O’Halloran remain as the leading scorers with five goals each.

St.Johnstone Team News

Tommy Wright will be without Aaron Comrie (tendon) and Murray Davidson (malleolar) due to injuries.

Dundee FC Preview

Dundee have been unable to push away from the bottom two, as the club has come up against some difficult fixture of late. Games against the likes of Aberdeen and Celtic in the last five have not provided Dundee with a platform to push further in the table, but the team has crucially not embarrassed themselves in these games. Dundee have suffered just close defeats against Aberdeen and Celtic. Even then, the club have one of the poor defensive records with 32 goals conceded in 21 games. The recent form table shows a dramatic improvement in this regard, as Dundee have conceded just six in the last five. Mark O’Hara and AJ Leitch-Smith lead the Dundee scoring charts with four goals each.

Dundee FC Team News

Craig Wighton (cruciate ligament), James McPake (knee), Josh Meekings (shin), and Roarie Deacon (hamstring) are the players unavailable for Dundee.
