Slavia Prague vs APOEL Nicosia Match Prediction

By Marius Hrebenciuc

APOEL will be looking to finish the job when they travel to the Eden Arena to take on Slavia Prague on Wednesday night for the second leg of their Champions League play-off tie. APOEL did well to beat Slavia Prague last week thanks to two first-half goals from Igor de Camargo and Efstathios Aloneftis. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news and match stats all in our SBAT preview.

Betting Predictions and Tips

I’m backing Slavia Prague to bounce back to winning ways here as they have enjoyed a great run of form on home soil over the past few months, while APOEL have only won once in their last six Champions League away games. I’m also expecting Slavia Prague to keep a clean sheet here as they have only conceded three goals in their last nine home games across all competitions.

Slavia Prague Preview

Slavia Prague’s start into this 2017/18 competitive season has been disappointing as they have only won two of their six official fixtures. They were beaten 2-0 on the road at APOEL last week and followed this up with only a goalless away draw at Bohemians 1905 in the 4th round of the Czech 1. Liga at the weekend. They are undefeated in four games in this early part of the 1. Liga, winning two and drawing two in the process. The good news is that Slavia haven’t conceded a single goal in four league games this season, although they have only scored three. Regarding their Champions League record, this is Slavia’s first appearance since 2009 when they were knocked out in the third qualifying round. The Czechs have only won once in their last twelve games in the Champions League and have failed to score in seven of these. However, Slavia can count on their recent home form ahead of this tie as they are undefeated in the last 13 home fixtures across all competitions, including a 1-0 win over BATE Borisov in the previous qualifying round. In addition, Slavia Prague have only lost once in their last eight home games in the Champions League. Milan Skoda is Slavia’s topscorer in the qualifiers so far as he managed to score two goals in his three appearances.

Slavia Prague Team News

Jiri Bilek and Simon Deli are both missing through injury, while Danny is a doubt.

APOEL Nicosia Preview

This is APOEL’s six game in the current Champions League qualifying campaign as they managed to beat the likes of FC Viitorul and Dudelange before their clinical 2-0 home win over Slavia Prague last week. Sandwiched in-between these games, APOEL suffered a disappointing 1-2 defeat at the hands of Apollon in the Cyprus Super Cup, despite the fact that they took the lead in the 9th minute. Away from home, APOEL were on a ten-game unbeaten streak across all competitions prior to their 1-0 defeat FC Viitorul in their most recent trip. Actually, they have only won once in their last six Champions League away fixtures, while losing four. APOEL will be looking to reach the Champions League group stage for the 4th time, as they previously qualified in 2009/10, 2011/12 and 2014/15. Their best performance in the competition was in 2014/15 when they managed to reach the quarter-finals of the competition all the way from the second qualifying round. Igor de Camargo is a player to watch here as he already managed to help his side with three goals and one assist in his five appearances this season.

APOEL Nicosia Team News

Giorgos Merkis, Oliveira Franco Vinicius, Efstathios Aloneftis and Lorenzon Ebecilio are all doubts, but Georgios Efrem is still out through injury.
