Sheffield Wednesday vs Sheffield United Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Sunday lunchtime (13:15) game is a Steel City derby between two sides who have made a good start to the season. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats. Sheffield Wednesday picked up a useful looking point at Cardiff last time out in a game that ended 1-1. They lead through Gary Hooper and looked set for all three points until a 90th minute goal denied them. Sheffield United suffered a league defeat last time out going down 1-0 to Norwich in the league. The Blades saw a lot more of the ball but were unable to find a way past a well-drilled Canaries defence. These two rivals have not met since 2011/12 when they did battle in League One. The head-to-head record has been mixed with one win each and two draws from their last four meetings.

Betting Tips and Predictions

The draw looks a good way to play this between two sides who are in good form this season and will not want to lose this first Sheffield derby since 2012. In addition, with goalscorers like Hooper, Sharp, Donaldson (possibly), Rhodes and Forestieri on the pitch taking the game to end in a score draw looks a sensible enhancement to the price.
