Sheffield United vs Queens Park Rangers Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Tuesday evening (19:45) fixtures features two sides in opposite halves of the Championship table. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Sheffield United were in FA Cup action on Friday evening and they battled well but ended up losing 1-0 to Leicester City. In the league, they were last in action February 10th where they beat Leeds 2-1 thanks to a Billy Sharp brace (one of which was a penalty). QPR picked up an important three points in their last game as they defeated Bolton 2-0 at Loftus Road. The game was goalless until Wanderers had a man sent-off in the 54th minute, the Rs then netted through Joel Lynch and Matt Smith for three important points. The reverse fixture came at the end of October (31st) at Loftus Road in a game the Hoops won 1-0 thanks to a Idrissa Sylla goal. The London side have a good recent record against United winning three of the last four and losing just one of the last five.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Sheffield United have won just two of their last eight league home games so it is hard to back them at those prices. QPR like bloodying noses of the bigger sides but on the road, they have won just two all season so I could not recommend backing them either so I would look elsewhere for the bets. The Blades have scored around 52% of their goals in the first-half while the Hoops have scored just 36% so it might be worth a small play on them to be ahead going into the break and a buy of their first team goal which is set at 43:00.

Sheffield United Preview

The Blades have won just three of their last 14 in the league a run that has seen them drop out of the top six. They now face a run of four matches against opponents in the bottom-half and need to take advantage of this. At home, it is just one victory from their last four though this did come last time out against Leeds. The last four Championship games at Bramall Lane have produced a total of just five goals with three of these coming in one tie. Billy Sharp netted two in the last Sheffield United league game and has ten goals in the division this season. Around 43% of the goals they have scored have come in the 15 minutes prior to half-time and the end of the game.

Sheffield United Team News

John Fleck and Simon Moore are suspended while Kieron Freeman (dislocated kneecap) is a doubt. Paul Coutts (broken leg) is out for the season.

Queens Park Rangers Preview

The Rs have won two of their last three games to put an 11-point gap between themselves and the bottom three. They now face five of their next nine on the road so this cushion is good news. Away from Loftus Road, they have won just one of their last five and just two over the entire season. They have failed to find the back of the net in six of their last nine on the road in the Championship. Four of the last six and five of the last season QPR have played in the division have featured exactly two or three goals. Around 64% of their goals have come in the second-half with 33% in the final 15 minutes.

Queens Park Rangers Team News

Jordan Cousins (illness), Idrissa Sylla (calf), James Perch (unknown) and Grant Hall (knee) are doubts while Jamie Mackie (back surgery) and David Wheeler (ankle) are long-term absentees. Ryan Manning will miss the game through suspension.
