Sheffield United vs Nottingham Forest Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Saturday afternoon (15:00) fixture features two sides in opposite halves of the Championship.  Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Sheffield United picked up an important three points in midweek as they defeated Burton 2-0 at Bramall Lane.  United netted a goal in each half through Enda Stevens and David Brooks to claim a deserved victory.

Nottingham Forest stretched their unbeaten run to six matches as they drew on Sunday at home to Derby in an East Midlands battle.  Forest were probably a little lucky as it was County who created most of the scoring chances.

The reverse fixture came at the end of September at the City Ground and it was the home side won that one 2-1.  The Blades had taken the lead through John Lundstram only for the Tricky Trees to come back with a goal each from Jason Cummings and Kieran Dowell to claim all the points.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Forest probably rode their luck against Derby last weekend and while their six-game unbeaten run is impressive it has come against some of the weaker sides in the division.  United have beaten two similar mid-level sides at home in recent weeks and as such the prices probably look fair.

Both teams to score has only happened in one of the last five for the hosts and just three of the last 14 for the visitors so this looks an angle into the game.  In addition, the Tricky Trees have only conceded more than once in their last six so backing under 1.5 goals for the Blades also makes sense.

Sheffield United Preview

Seven points from their last four games (sandwiched around a defeat to red-hot Fulham) has given the Blades hope of getting back into the top six.  Going into the weekend they were seventh two points Middlesbrough with four of their next to come at home.

At Bramall Lane, they have won each of their last three scoring exactly two goals in each of these.  United have been strong at the back in front of their own fans in recent times with just four goals in their last seven.

None of the last three league games Sheffield United have played and just one of their last five have seen both teams find the back of the net.  Around 54% of their goals this season have come in the first-half.

Sheffield United Team News

Leon Clarke (hamstring) is a doubt while Paul Coutts (broken leg) is out for the season.

Nottingham Forest Preview

A six-game unbeaten run (four draws and two victories) has moved Forest away from any relegation issues and going into the weekend they were 15 points above the drop.  They now face a tricky run of matches with seven of their next against top half teams.

Away from the City Ground, they are unbeaten in their last two though they have won just two of their last 12 on the road.  In three of their last four on their travel have they failed to score.

The last two Nottingham Forest ties and three of their last six have finished without a goal.  54% of their league goals have come in the second-half with 33% netted in the final 15 minutes.

Nottingham Forest Team News

Jack Hobbs (back), Chris Cohen (knee), David Vaughan (unknown) and Jamie Ward (hamstring) are doubts.
