Sheffield United vs Norwich City Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Saturday afternoon (15:00) game features third in the table at home to the side in 14th place.  Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats. Sheffield United continued their great start with a 1-0 victory at the Macron Stadium in midweek.  It made it three wins in a row and they had Cameron Carter-Vickers to thank after his 33rd minute goal. Norwich were held to a frustrating goalless draw in midweek in their home game with Burton Albion. The Canaries dominated possession but could find no way past a side who were determined not to conceded after shipping five in their previous fixture. The Canaries have won four of the last six against the Blades but these two sides have not met each other since 2010/11 so it is hard to read too much into these. Wes Hoolahan did net a hat-trick in his penultimate start against United for those looking for players who do well against certain teams.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Sheffield United would be my play here if I knew that Clayton Donaldson would start as his pace will cause a slow Norwich backline a wealth of problems but until I see team-news I would look at a few other markets. Under 2.5 goals looks worth a bet as the Yorkshire outfit have concerns over Donaldson while the East-Anglian side have been involved in just one goal from their last two following the introduction of Tettey and Trybull as a midfield protection duo. Sticking with the cautious nature of the game then it also makes sense to go for NO in the both teams to score market

Sheffield United Preview

Chris Wilder and the Blades fans must be delighted with the way they have adjusted to life back in the Championship as they sit in third place with 15 points. They have won each of their last four league fixtures and their two defeats have been no disgrace as they have come against Middlesbrough and Cardiff. At home, United have won all three so far seeing off Brentford, Barnsley and Derby netting five in the process and conceding just once. You must go back to January to find the last time they lost at Bramall Lane in the league though they did suffer defeat in a recent League Cup game against Premier League Leicester. Billy Sharp is their leading goalscorer with four goals and he is developing a good partnership with deadline day signing Clayton Donaldson who has netted twice. The Yorkshire outfit have shipped five league goals this season and just one of these has come in front of their own fans.

Sheffield United Team News

Clayton Donaldson is a slight concern with a hamstring injury. Five players certain to miss out are James Hanson (hamstring), Samir Carruthers (calf), Richard Stearman (hamstring), Simon Moore (knee) and Caolan Lavery (head).

Norwich City Preview

It has not been the revolution Canaries fans were hoping for so far under Daniel Farke with eight points from seven games a slow start. The East-Anglian outfit have looked to steady since a 4-0 loss at Millwall and although they have taken four points it has come at the expense of some early attacking fluidity. On the road, they have lost each of their last two and taken just one point from three and going back over two seasons won just one of 12. Two of three this season and five six on their travels in total have gone over 2.5 goals. Nelson Oliveira is the main man for the Canaries with four of the seven they have scored in the league coming from the boot of the Portugal international.  Nine of the 12 they have shipped this season have come on the road though a recent switch to two holding midfielders suggests that they are looking to address this.

Norwich City Team News

Alex Pritchard (ankle), Matt Jarvis (hip), Jamal Lewis (knee) and Louis Thompson (Achilles) are all long-term absentees.
