Sheffield United vs Hull City Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Saturday afternoon (15:00) fixture features the side third from top hosting the side fourth from bottom. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Sheffield United made it three victories in three games by handing Blackburn their first home league defeat in over a year with a 2-0 victory. Billy Sharp netted two second-half goals to give them the three points that their performance deserved.

Hull stretched their winless run to four matches with a 1-0 loss at home to high-flying Leeds United. The Tigers ran them close but in the end the Yorkshire rivals just about shaded it and deserved the three points.

These two have already met at Bramall Lane in the League Cup this campaign and it ended 1-1 in 90 minutes with City progressing on penalties. The two meetings last season were split with a 4-1 for United at Bramall Lane and a 1-0 win for the Humberside outfit at the KC Stadium.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Sheffield United should win the game though I think they are promotion hopefuls I don’t think they are the kind of side who should be going off so short. Hull though don’t really appeal as a side I want to take them on with so I will look elsewhere to find the value.

Billy Sharp is the main man for the Blades and had a brace in midweek and I think looks great value to score at any time as does John Fleck who has been getting chances in recent weeks and looks due another goal.

Sheffield United Preview

The Blades have taken ten points from their last four fixtures and 21 out of a possible 27 in their last nine. They sit third in the table (on goal-difference) and just one of their next seven is against a top eight opponent.

At Bramall Lane, they lost their first game of the season but have since gone on to win three and draw one of four. Billy Sharp who has seven goals for the season has netted three in last four at home.

Sheffield United have found themselves behind just once going into the break in the league this campaign. 45% of the goals the Yorkshire outfit have netted have come in the final 30 minutes.

Sheffield United Team News

Jake Wright (broken cheekbone) and Kean Bryan (unknown) are doubts.

Hull City Preview

The Tigers are on a miserable run of form taking just one point from their last four and four from their last seven. They sit in 21st place with eight points just one point and place above the relegation zone.

Away from the KC Stadium, they have lost each of their last three shipping seven times and scoring just once. They had taken four points from their opening two on the road which includes a victory at Rotherham.

Six of the ten league goals that Hull have netted this season have come in the opening 45 minutes. Ten of the 18 they have conceded in the league have come in the second-half of fixtures.

Hull City Team News

Jackson Irvine (Achilles), George Long (illness), Angus MacDonald (calf), Jordy de Wijs (ankle), Ondrej Mazuch (knee), Evandro (hamstring) and James Weir (meniscus) are all doubts.
