Sheffield United vs Fulham Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Tuesday evening (19:45) fixture features two sides in opposite halves of the Championship table. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats. Sheffield United continued their strong start to the season with a comprehensive 3-1 victory at Burton on Friday night. They had a brace from Billy Sharp (one penalty) and a goal from Leon Clarke (his fifth in the last two) to thank for a well-deserved three points. Fulham continued their poor run of form as they went held to a 1-1 draw by Derby last time out. They took the lead through Oliver Norwood but that lasted for just 20 minutes and despite creating the better chances had to settle for a point. The last time these two sides met was in the 2015 League Cup at Craven Cottage a game that Fulham won 3-0. You must go back to 2006/07 and the Premier League for the last time these two were in the same division.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Seven wins from eight at Bramall Lane including one over Wolves suggests that Sheffield United look good value here against a Fulham side who are being priced up on last season rather than this one. Take advantage of this and back the Blades to claim all three points. I also like the look of United to be ahead at half-time as they have been five of their eight at their own ground this season while the London outfit have conceded eight of their last ten in the opening 45 minutes.

Sheffield United Preview

The Blades have won their last two and five of their last six as they keep the pace with Wolves at the top end of the Championship. They are just two points behind the leaders and they have three of their next four games at home. At Bramall Lane, they have won each of their last four with Wolves among the teams they have defeated here. Their four goals conceded at home gives them the joint defensive record with Cardiff though the Bluebirds have played a game more. Four of their last five have seen both teams score and the game going over 2.5 goals. All bar one of their games this season have seen at least one goal netted in the opening 45 minutes and 15 of the 27 the Yorkshire side have netted have come in the first-half.

Sheffield United Team News

Paul Coutts is out for the season after breaking his leg in the victory over Burton while Ched Evans (ankle), Kieron Freeman (dislocated kneecap) and George Baldock (hamstring) are doubts.

Fulham Preview

The London outfit continue to struggle with no victory in six and taking just three points from these games. Their expected promotion challenge has yet to get going though this is just their only one of the next six against a top 12 side. Away from Craven Cottage, it has been a mixed bag lately with two victories and two defeats from their last four. Four of their last five on their travels have seen both teams score and gone over 2.5 goals with the only exception being a 2-0 loss at Wolves. Ten of their last 12 fixtures have seen both teams score though this is true in just one of their last three. Just 37% of their goals have come in the first-half and just 11% in the opening 15 minutes.

Fulham Team News

Kevin McDonald is back from suspension while long-term absentees Lucas Piazon (broken leg) and Sheyi Ojo (dislocated shoulder) are still out.
