Rotherham United vs Brentford Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Saturday afternoon (15:00) fixture is an important one at the bottom of the Championship as the side in 21st hosts the team in 17th. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Rotherham suffered their fourth defeat in their last five league games last time out as they lost 1-0 at Ipswich. The expected goals data suggests that United were unlucky to lose to their relegation rivals.

Brentford continued their upturn in fortunes and stretched their unbeaten run to six with a 3-1 defeat of Stoke. Said Benrahma, Rico Henry and an own-goal saw the Bees wrap up a comfortable three points.

The reverse fixture came on the opening day of the season at Griffin Park and it ended in a comprehensive 5-1 victory for the London side. Neal Maupay grabbed a brace, while Ollie Watkins, Sergi Canos and Lewis MacLeod grabbed one each with Will Vaulks getting a late consolation for the Millers.

Betting Tips and Predictions

The visitors seem likely winners to me here but the odds on them just look short considering they are without a road win all season. Rotherham have also lost just two at their own place so I would look elsewhere for the bets.

Both sides have scored over 60% of their goals in the second-half so backing this to be the highest scoring half appeals as does an interest on over 1.5 goals in this 45 minutes as both teams push on for an important three points.

Rotherham United Preview

The Millers have won just one of their last 11 and this means they are involved in the relegation battle. They sit in 21st place just two points ahead of a Reading side showing improvement under their new manager.

At the New York Stadium, the Yorkshire outfit are tough to beat having lost on just two occasions this campaign. Six of their last nine in front of their own fans have ended all-square.

Rotherham have failed to net in three of their last five in the Championship and have netted a combined three in these. Their defence has gone 13 without a clean sheet and you have to go back to 23rd October for their last one in the league.

Rotherham United Team News

Sean Raggett (unknown), Joe Newell and Kyle Vassell (both groin) are doubts while Darren Potter (ankle) and Jamie Proctor (also groin) are long-term absentees. Richard Towell is available having completed a suspension.

Brentford Preview

The Bees have gone five unbeaten (winning two and drawing three) to ease any relegation worries. They now sit in 17th and are five places and eight points above Reading who are in 22nd.

Away from Griffin Park, the London side are still without a victory though three of their last four have ended all-square. Each of their last four on the road have gone under 2.5 goals with three featuring exactly two goals.

Brentford are looking good at the back now having conceded just three times from their last five in the league. Going forward they bagged three against Stoke but had only netted three in the five prior to that.

Brentford Team News

Marcus Foss (unknown), Emiliano Marcondes (ankle) and Lewis MacLeod (hamstring) are all long-term absentees.
