Romania vs Armenia Match Prediction

Romania and Armenia will square off at the National Arena in Bucharest on Friday night, with both sides looking to keep their World Cup play-offs alive. Romania suffered a 3-1 defeat on the road at Poland last time out, with their consolation goal being scored by Bogdan Stancu with just 13 minutes to go. Meanwhile, Armenia lost 4-1 in Montenegro, with Ruslan Koryan scoring the consolation goal in the 89th minute. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news and match stats all in our SBAT preview.
Betting Predictions and Tips
Romania hold an impeccable head-to-head record over Armenia, having won three and draw one of their four meetings. Furthermore, their home form over the past two years has seen them lose just three of their last 15 home fixtures across all competitions. I’m fancying Romania to win, but I’m not expecting that many goals as in the reverse fixture.

Romania Preview
Romania had a solid start to this World Cup qualifying campaign, registering two draws against Montenegro and Kazakhstan along with a 0-5 win over Armenia. However, they have failed to win any of their most recent three qualifiers, losing twice against Poland and drawing once against Denmark. However, the Romanians looked pretty solid in their 3-2 home win over Chile in the middle of June in their most friendly fixture. Prior to this victory, Romania managed to score just once in five games across all competitions. The Romanians currently find themselves in 4th spot in the group E table tied on six points with their Friday’s opponents, already four points behind the 2nd-placed Montenegro. The Tricolours didn’t look that bad throughout this qualifying campaign, but unfortunately, their 5-0 win over Armenia last October was their only victory in this group. Their home form throughout this qualification process has been awful as they have failed to win in any of their three home qualifiers. The good news is that Romania have won their both home meetings with Armenia across all competitions, scoring five goals and conceding none in the process. Adrian Popa and Bogdan Stancu are the team’s joint topscorers after six rounds with two goals each, although Nicolae Stancu is a player to watch as well as he managed to provide a couple of assists throughout this campaign.
Romania Team News
Coach Christoph Daum has called up Steliano Filip from Dinamo Bucharest despite his poor performance for the club. Goalkeeper Florian Nita is also in the squad and he will be Romania’s third choice.
Armenia Preview
On the contrary, Armenia had a poor start to this World Cup qualifying campaign, but they managed to pick up some points from their most recent qualifiers. They started this campaign with three consecutive defeats against Denmark, Romania and Poland, but managed to bounce back with two successive wins over Montenegro and Kazakhstan. The Armenians were on a three-game winning streak across all competitions prior to their 4-1 defeat against Montenegro in their most recent qualifier back in June. They are tied on six points with Romania, but they have an awful goal difference record as they have already conceded 14 goals in six rounds. Furthermore, Armenia’s away form over the past three years have been terrible as they have lost twelve of their last 14 away games across all competitions. They are currently on a four-game losing run on the road, conceding at least two goals in three of these. Head-to-head, Armenia are winless in four meetings with Romania across all competitions, scoring just once in this term. Henrikh Mkhitaryan is Armenia’s talisman, but unfortunately for him, the rest of the squad are nowhere near on his level.
Armenia Team News
There are no fresh injury concerns for Armenia ahead of this trip.
