Rijeka Preview

Rijeka were back in domestic action once again last time out and there was a sense of deja vu in the pattern of their fixture - although the outcome was more desirable for them this time around. They faced Lokomotiva Zagreb at home at the weekend, but fell behind inside sixteen minutes through a Jan Dolezal strike. However, Filip Bradaric pulled them level ten minutes from time before Florentin Matei netted the winner in the 94th minute - doing to their opponents what had been done to them in midweek. Olympiakos came back late to deny them what would’ve been a famous win on Wednesday night and, more importantly, gave them the clear upper hand heading into the return leg in Croatia. This is the third two-legged qualifier the club have had to play in the Champions League this season and they are yet to concede a goal at home, drawing 0-0 with Salzburg and beating The New Saints 2-0.

Rijeka Team News

Rijeka have one injury absentee for this one, with midfielder Mario Gavranovic out with a cruciate ligament injury.

Olympiacos Preview

Olympiakos began the defence of their Greek Super League title in emphatic fashion last time out, beating Larissa 4-1 in front of their home supporters. A Konstantinos Fortounis penalty gave them the lead early, before Karim Ansarifard doubled their advantage in the second half. Diogo Figueiras then had a hectic three minutes, putting through his own net before then making it 3-1 with a goal in the right end. Fortounis scored his second of the game to make the result safe and keep momentum going ahead of this crucial second leg, with it essential the club qualify for the Champions League. Alaixys Romao’s 93rd minute winner during the first leg in Greece could prove to be huge for the Greek champions, enabling them to approach this game with the slight upper hand. Despite historically struggling away from home in the Champions League, Olympiakos have won three of their last five on the road in this competition.

Olympiacos Team News

Olympiakos manager Besnik Hasi has a fully-fit squad to select from for this crucial second leg.
