Real Salt Lake vs Houston Dynamo Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Real Salt Lake went four games without defeat, as they managed a 2-2 draw with Columbus Crew at the Rio Tinto stadium. Ola Kamara provided the away team with an early advantage, but goals from Joao Plata and Jefferson Savarino helped Real Salt Lake gain the advantage by the 53rd minute. They were unable to preserve the advantage for long, as Kamara equalised in the 60th minute. Houston Dynamo were left disappointed after last weekend’s results, as they only managed a 2-2 with Portland Timbers. Houston came back twice in the game as Diego Valeri’s goal was cancelled out by Mauro Manotas, while Sebastian Blanco’s goal was cancelled out by Juan Cabezas. Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Houston Dynamo have won the last three meetings with Real Salt Lake, as they have been able to overturn three consecutive losses against this opponent just prior to this run. Real Salt Lake have three wins in the last four home games against Houston, but the away team has suffered just two losses on the road. Houston are not a great bet for a win, but I would pick a draw from this game. Joao Plata has been in excellent form for Real Salt Lake, and he has scored in three of his last four games. He also scored in the reverse fixture against Houston. I would back Plata to score anytime in the game.

Real Salt Lake Preview

Even though Real Salt Lake have been unable to win the last two home matches, manager Mike Petke will be reasonably happy with his team’s overall form. The team are unbeaten in the last four games, and the run includes back-to-back wins over LA Galaxy and Portland Timbers. The task for the manager will be to transform the unbeaten run into a winning run – especially at home. Real Salt Lake have been unable to win the last three home games, as their last success at the Rio Tinto stadium came against Minnesota United towards the end of June. Yura Movsisyan and Joao Plata are the top scorers at Real Salt Lake with six goals each.

Real Salt Lake Team News

Petke will be without Chad Barrett (knee), Jordan Allen (knee), Omar Holness (knee), Ricardo Velazco (ankle), and Matt van Oekel (malleolar) due to injury.

Houston Dynamo Preview

The incredible home form had kept Houston Dynamo closer to the top of the table up until now, but they have been only able to achieve just three wins in the last five home games. Still, Houston remain as one of the four teams in the 2017 MLS table yet to suffer a home defeat. It is a completely contrasting story on the road with the team managing just one win in 11 matches. Yet, Houston Dynamo have suffered just two defeats in the last five on the road. Erick Torres remains the leading scorer at Houston with 12 league goals.

Houston Dynamo Team News

George Malki (cruciate ligament) and Eric Alexander (ligament) are the players unavailable due to injury, while Romell Quioto is suspended.
