Real Madrid vs Villarreal Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Real Madrid’s disappointing La Liga campaign hit new lows after a 2-2 draw with Celta de Vigo last weekend. Daniel Wass opened the scoring with a brilliant chip in the 33rd minute, but Madrid were back on level terms soon enough through Gareth Bale’s excellent finish. The Welshman then put Madrid ahead in the 38th minute, but Maxi Gomez’ late header levelled the scores. Crucially, Keylor Navas was able to save a penalty from Iago Aspas. Villarreal could only manage a 1-1 draw at Deportivo La Coruna at home in the latest league game. Enes Unal’s close range finish was cancelled out by Florin Andone’s 84th minute goal, as the relegation threatened outfit grabbed a point at the La Ceramica.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

The recent form of Real Madrid is unlikely to make them as potential contenders to win the game, while the Los Blancos have also struggled against Villarreal with only two wins in the last five. The key element of this game is likely to be the goals, which will be profound due to the absence of Sergio Ramos. Ramos was unavailable against Celta de Vigo and Madrid conceded twice. Villarreal have scored in the last six away games in the La Liga. I would expect both teams to score in this game.

The game is likely to produce over 2.5 goals from Real Madrid, who have scored a remarkable 14 goals in the last five league matches at the Santiago Bernabeu. Villarreal have been quite solid at the back, but the team has conceded twice the number of goals (14) in away matches than in games at the La Ceramica. Real Madrid are likely to score over 2.5 goals in the game.

Real Madrid Preview

Zinedine Zidane’s job is coming under increasing pressure, as the only manager to win back-to-back Champions League titles has been unable to get his team even into the top two places of the La Liga. Real Madrid are now a whopping 16 points behind Barcelona after the latest round of league results, while the club are coming into pressure from the likes of Sevilla and Villarreal for the fourth place. Madrid have managed only two wins in the last six La Liga games, while the team has already dropped 19 points – compared to the 20 dropped throughout the whole of the 2016-17 season.

Real Madrid Team News

Sergio Ramos (calf) and Luca Zidane (shoulder) are the only injury concerns for Zinedine Zidane coming into the game.

Villarreal Preview

The Yellow Submarines have been unable to make a push for the top four places owing to an inconsistent run of form over the last couple of weeks. Now, though, Villarreal still remain in touching distance of fourth-placed Real Madrid. Manager Javier Calleja will not be pleased with his team dropping too many points at this stage. A big advantage for the club will be striker Enes Unal scoring upon his return to the club from a loan spell at Levante. Cedric Bakambu, however, is still the top scorer at the club with nine goals.

Villarreal Team News

Andres Fernandez (cruciate ligament), Nicola Sansone (calf), Leonardo Suarez (cruciate ligament), Roberto Soriano (knee), and Ruben Semedo (thigh) are unavailable for Villarreal. Meanwhile, Victor Ruiz Torres is missing from action for Villarreal.
