Real Madrid vs Valencia Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Reigning La Liga champions Real Madrid were able to their open their title defense with a 3-0 win over Deportivo La Coruna at the Riazor. Goals from Gareth Bale and Casemiro provided an early advantage for Zinedine Zidane’s team, while a second-half goal from midfielder Toni Kroos completed the rout. Valencia have been able to make a positive start to the season after securing a 1-0 win over Las Palmas at the Mestalla. Simone Zaza, who has made the switch to Valencia on a permanent basis, came up with the only goal of the game, while Alen Halilovic was sent off in the 33rd minute.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Both Real Madrid and Valencia were able to manage a clean sheet in the opening game of the season. However, recent matches between Madrid and Valencia have been high scoring. More importantly, both teams have scored in the last six games without exception. Exclusively with matches at the Santiago Bernabeu, Valencia have been able to score in five out of the last six visits. I see plenty of value in backing both teams to score. Real Madrid have scored 11 goals in the last five games against Valencia at the Bernabeu. Los Blancos scored three goals in the opening game against Deportivo La Coruna. However, the team are once again without Cristiano Ronaldo, but face a team with a much better defence. Madrid have scored more than 2.5 goals only once in the last six home games against Valencia. I would back Real Madrid to score under 2.5 goals.

Real Madrid Preview

The exodus of players like Alvaro Morata and James Rodriguez does not appear to have hurt Real Madrid in the offensive area of the pitch, as the club scored three goals in the opening game of the season. Even more impressive was the way the club managed to overcome the suspension of Cristiano Ronaldo. After winning the La Liga and the Champions League last season, the pressure on manager Zinedine Zidane to go even better. Real Madrid won the title last season with a three-point advantage over Barcelona. Ronaldo ended up as the top scorer with 42 goals in all competitions.

Real Madrid Team News

Sergio Ramos and Cristiano Ronaldo are unavailable for the game due to suspension. Jesus Vallejo (thigh) is not available for selection due to injury.

Valencia Preview

The arrival of Voro helped Valencia finish closer to the top half of the table, but the club decided to go for Marcelino as the permanent option. The 52-year-old had immense pressure on his shoulders coming into the first game, but starting the campaign with a victory and a clean sheet was probably the best way to begin. Valencia have spent majority of their transfer budget on Gabriel Paulista and Simone Zaza, who was on loan at the club in the second half of last season, in the summer. Zaza paid instant dividends after scoring the winner against Las Palmas, while Gabriel could make his debut against Real Madrid.

Valencia Team News

Nani (knee) and Martin Montoya (thigh) are the players unavailable due to injury.
