Reading vs Queens Park Rangers Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Friday early evening (17:30) game features two sides in the bottom-half of the Championship table.  Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Reading lost 3-2 at Norwich last time out despite a goal each from Liam Kelly and Sam Smith which saw the end of Jaap Stam as manager.  Former Swansea boss Paul Clement is the new man in charge of the Royals.

QPR stretched their unbeaten run to four matches with a 2-2 draw on the road to Fulham. In their last fixture.  They were two down but a goal each from Massimo Luongo and Pawel Wszolek enabled them to secure a point.

The reverse fixture came on the opening day of the season and the Rs won on that occasion 2-0.  Connor Washington grabbed a brace while the Berkshire outfit also had Tiago Ilori sent-off.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Reading might get a new manager bounce under Paul Clement but I think at the prices the visitors represent the value.  QPR will be full of confidence after drawing at Fulham and winning at Villa in recent road trips and manager Ian Holloway is keen to show that he will be the man to lead the Rs into next season.  Take the visitors with the security of the draw no bet.

Massimo Luongo is in good form with three goals from his last five domestic starts and in a fixture with no obvious goal threat I like the look of him each-way in the first goalscorer market.

Reading Preview

The Royals run of nine without a victory and just one win their last 18 in the league saw the end of Jaap Stam as boss. His replacement Paul Clement will need to hit the ground running with the Berkshire outfit just three points above the drop zone.

At the Madejski Stadium, they are without a victory in their last nine though three of their last four have ended in a draw.  Each of their last four in front of their own fans have seen both teams find the back of the net.

Four of the last five and six of the last eight Reading have played in the Championship have gone over 2.5 goals.  They have failed to win any of their five previous meetings with their opponents here.

Reading Team News

Chris Martin (illness), Axel Andresson (ankle), Jon Dadhi Bodhvarsson, Omar Richards (both calf), Callum Harriott, Paul McShane (both hamstring), Tommy Elphick, Joe Mendez and Stephen Quinn (all knee) are doubts.  Jordan Obita (ligament) and Gareth McCleary (broken ankle) are out for the remainder of the season.

Queens Park Rangers Preview

A run of eight points from their four previous fixtures has eased any relegation worries that the Rs fans had.  They sit in 15th place on 47 points a comfortable 14 points above the side (Birmingham) in 22nd.

Away from Loftus Road, they have taken four points from trips to Craven Cottage and Villa Park though before that had lost three straight.  Each of their last four and five of their last six on the road have seen both teams score and gone over 2.5 goals.

Massimo Luongo is in good goalscoring form with the Australian having bagged three times in his last five league starts.  Each of their last five and seven of their last eight meetings with Reading have gone under 2.5 goals.

Queens Park Rangers Team News

Jack Robinson (leg), Idrissa Sylla (calf) and Grant Hall (knee) are doubts while Jamie Mackie (back surgery) and David Wheeler (ankle) are long-term absentees.
