Reading vs Queens Park Rangers Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Tuesday evening (20:00) fixture features two of the bottom six in action and it is live on Sky Sports (behind the red button).  Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Reading continued their recent upturn in form with a 2-2 draw on the road to high-flying Brentford. Jon Dadhi Bodvarsson and John Swift netted for the Royals though it would have been harsh on the Bees if they took all three points.

QPR have now lost back-to-back matches going down 3-0 to Swansea to complete a miserable week that also saw them exit the League Cup. The Welsh side winning was a fair result but the scoreline flattered the Swans a little.

The two meetings between these sides last season saw the home side come out on top with it 1-0 at the Madejski and 2-0 at Loftus Road. The Rs have lost just two of their last ten against the Royals.

Betting Tips and Predictions

At the prices Reading look the bet here given they have two wins and a draw from their last three and they beat the Rs here last season.  QPR have looked lifeless in defeat to Swansea and Norwich in recent times sandwiched around a League Cup exit to Blackpool.

Jon Dadhi Bodvarsson has netted in each of his last three appearances and he looks good value to continue that trend with a goal at any time.

Reading Preview

The Royals have picked up seven of their nine points this season from their previous four fixtures. They sit in 20th place though the expected goals data feels they should be a little higher in 14th.

At the Madejski Stadium, they lost their opening four matches though did bounce back with a victory over Hull. Each of their last three and four of their five in front of their own fans have seen exactly three goals scored.

Reading are 8th highest in the goals per game table with an average of 2.9 with seven of their ten going over 2.5 goals. The Berkshire outfit have not been involved in a goalless draw this season.

Reading Team News

John O’Shea will miss his final game of his suspension while Adrian Popa (ankle), Dave Edwards, David Meyler (both knee), John Swift, Mo Barrow, Sam Baldock and Yakou Meite (knock), Vito Mannone (unknown) and Jordan Obita (cruciate) are all doubts.

Queens Park Rangers Preview

The Rs have followed a run of ten points from their last four matches up with two successive defeats to keep them at the bottom end of the table. They are in 19th with ten points and face a run of six straight against teams outside the top eight.

Away from Loftus Road, they have struggled losing three, drawing one and winning against Bolton. No side in the division has conceded more on the road than the 12 they have shipped this season.

QPR sit in the 15th goals per match table with an average of 2.5 and an even split of five under 2.5 goals and five over 2.5 goals. Five of these ten have produced a total of exactly two or three goals.

Queens Park Rangers Team News

Josh Scowen (personal reasons), Toni Leinster (groin) and Sean Goss (back) are doubts while Grant Hall (knee), Darnell Furlong (ligament) and Olamide Shodipo (thigh) are set to miss the next few months.
