Reading vs Millwall Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Saturday afternoon (15:00) fixture features two sides in the bottom-half of the Championship. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Reading picked up a much needed three points last time out when they won 3-1 on the road at Burton. Jon Dadhi Bodhvarsson was the star of the show as he grabbed a brace while Chris Gunter also weighed in with a goal.

Millwall were in action on Tuesday night and they battled out a goalless home draw with Derby County. The Lions certainly matched the Rams in a game that a point each was a fair reflection.

The reverse fixture came in September at the Den and the home team won the game 2-1. Dave Edwards had given the visitors the lead in the 73rd minute but two in five minutes from George Saville wrapped up the points.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Reading defeated Burton in midweek but I would need to see more than that to be convinced a corner is turned. The Lions did finally get a win on the road at Leeds but that was a strange game and as such I think the match market should be avoided.

Just 27% of the goals the Royals have scored this season have come in the first-half so take a small interest in Millwall to score first and the second-half to be the highest scoring for the home side.

Reading Preview

Victory in midweek over Burton put to an end an eight-game winless run for the Royals and put them six points above the drop zone. At the transfer deadline, they secured loan deals for Chris Martin and Tommy Elphick to help them at both ends of the pitch.

At the Madejski Stadium, it is four without a victory including defeats in each of their last three. The 14 goals they have scored in front of their own fans is the joint-fourth lowest in the division this season.

Just one of the last eight Championship fixtures Reading have been involved with have gone over 2.5 goals. Just two of their last eight in the second-tier have seen both teams find the back of the net.

Reading Team News

Callum Harriott, John Swift and Paul McShane (all hamstring), Joe Mendez, Stephen Quinn (both knee) and Roy Beerens (back) are doubts. Jordan Obita is out for the remainder of the season with a cruciate ligament problem.

Millwall Preview

It is now three league games without defeat for the Lions and just one loss in six which has put them nine points above the bottom three. Their big deadline day move was bringing back club legend Tim Cahill while also signing Ben Marshall on loan and Harry Toffolo on a free.

Away from the Den, they have struggled with just one road win all season though that did come last time out against Leeds. Each of their last three and five of their last on their travels have gone over 2.5 goals.

Four of the last six Millwall have played in the league and five of six in all competitions have seen both teams score. Aiden O’Brien has four goals in his last three appearances while Jed Wallace has two in three.

Millwall Team News

Byron Webster (knee) is a long-term absentee while Aiden O’Brien (ankle) and Jason Shackell (illness) are doubts.
