RasenBallsport Leipzig vs FC Porto Match Prediction

By Marius Hrebenciuc

FC Porto will look to close the gap at the top of the Champions League group G table when they travel to the Red Bull Arena to take on RB Leipzig on Tuesday night. RB Leipzig suffered a disappointing 2-0 defeat on the road at Besiktas last time out despite the fact they had an overwhelming 56% ball possession and 19 goalscoring opportunities. On the contrary, FC Porto picked up a comfortable 0-3 away win at Monaco thanks to a brace from Vincent Aboubakar and another goal from Miguel Layun. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news, match stats and odds all in our SBAT preview.

Betting Predictions and Tips

RB Leipzig’s recent home form has seen them win two and draw two of their last four home games across all competitions, including their 1-1 stalemate against Monaco in the Champions League. Meanwhile, Porto are unbeaten in their last ten away games across all competitions and have kept a clean sheet in six of these. I think that the both teams to score market look good value here, as both sides looked solid going forward recently.

RasenBallsport Leipzig Preview

RB Leipzig have endured a disappointing start to this Champions League group campaign, registering a 1-1 draw against Monaco on matchday one and 2-0 loss away at Besiktas last time out. However, sandwiched in-between Champions League fixtures, Leipzig managed three consecutive victories in the Bundesliga, scoring at least two goals in each of these. They head into this clash high on confidence following their impressive 2-3 away victory at Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga at the weekend. This leaves RB Leipzig in third in the standings with 16 points under their belts after eight rounds, just three points behind the current leaders Borussia Dortmund. This is Leipzig’s first participation in a European competition and they became the first side from any country to make their European debut straight in the Champions League group stage. The most remarkable thing is that they achieved that by finishing second in the Bundesliga last term in what was their first campaign in the German top tier. Timo Werner is a player to watch for RB Leipzig as he is the team’s topscorer in the Bundesliga so far with five goals in his six league appearances.

RasenBallsport Leipzig Team News

Fabio Coltorti and Lukas Klostermann are both doubts ahead of this tie.

FC Porto Preview

Meanwhile, FC Porto kicked off their Champions League group stage campaign with a 1-3 home loss at the hands of Besiktas, but bounced back with a comfortable 0-3 away victory at Monaco on matchday two. This leaves the Portuguese in second spot in the group G table with three points under their belts after two rounds, three points behind the current leaders Besiktas. Actually, Porto have enjoyed a good run of form over the past three months as apart of their defeat against Besiktas, they haven’t lost any game in 15 fixtures across all competitions. Porto come into this tie on the back of a five-game unbeaten streak across all competitions, scoring at least two goals in four of these. Furthermore, Porto kept a clean sheet in each of their most recent three competitive fixtures. Away from home, Porto are undefeated in ten away games across all competitions at the moment, keeping six clean sheets in the process. Regarding their recent Champions League away record, Porto have only lost three of their last nine games. Vincent Aboubakar is definitely a player to watch here as he is the team’s topscorer in the Primeira Liga with six goals under his belt and he has also managed a brace against Monaco last time out in the Champions League.

FC Porto Team News

Moussa Marega is the only doubtful player for Porto ahead of this trip.
