RasenBallsport Leipzig vs Besiktas Match Prediction

By Marius Hrebenciuc

RB Leipzig are targeting a place into the Champions League knockout stages at the first attempt when they welcome the already-qualified Besiktas at the Red Bull Arena on Wednesday night. RB Leipzig managed an incredible 1-4 away victory at Monaco last time out in the Champions League thanks to a brace from Timo Werner, one goal from Naby Keita and an own-goal from the Monegasque defender Jemerson. On the other hand, Besiktas fought back from one-goal down to secure a 1-1 home draw against Porto, with Anderson Talisca scoring the equalizer just before half-time. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news, match stats and odds all in our SBAT preview. Feel free to visit our Bet of the day page to check our best daily tips.

Betting Predictions and Tips

RB Leipzig looked incredibly solid throughout this Champions League campaign and they have also been a strong side on home soil this season. They have only lost once in their last nine competitive home fixtures, but they have only kept two clean sheets in the process. On the flip side, Besiktas have scored at least once in nine of their last ten away games across all competitions. This having been said, I fancy both teams to get on the scoresheet in this one.

RasenBallsport Leipzig Preview

RB Leipzig were on a four-game unbeaten streak across all competitions prior to their thrashing 4-0 defeat on the road at Hoffenheim last weekend in the Bundesliga. They still sit second in the Bundesliga table at the moment in time, just one point clear of the third-placed Schalke 04. The Germans have also impressed during their debut in the Champions League this season, as they are now just one victory away from the round of 16. RB Leipzig managed to score nine goals throughout this group stage campaign, but they have also conceded nine in the process. Timo Werner has been RB Leipzig’s most dangerous player in front of goal throughout this Champions League campaign, having scored three goals in his five appearances. In addition, the 21-year-old striker has also netted seven goals in 12 Bundesliga appearances so far this season. Their home form this season have also been good as Leipzig have only lost once in their nine home games across all competitions, while winning six. During this home run, Leipzig managed to hold Monaco to a 1-1 draw and beat Porto 3-2 in their two Champions League home fixtures.

RasenBallsport Leipzig Team News

Fabio Coltorti, Dayot Upamecano and Emil Forsberg are all doubts, but Marcel Sabitzer is still out through injury.

Besiktas Preview

This Champions League group G had drama written all over it at the start of the season, but no one expected Besiktas to be the first team qualified with one game in hand. The Turks lie at the top of the group G table with eleven points to their name after five rounds, already four points clear of both Porto and RB Leipzig. They looked incredibly solid at the back throughout this group stage campaign, having conceded just four goals in five rounds. Besiktas have nothing left to play for as they will finish top of the group regardless the outcome of this clash. However, they have been a strong side away from home in the Champions League over the past year, having won three of their last four trips while scoring eight goals. In addition, their recent away form across all competitions have seen them lose just twice in their last ten games. Besiktas head into this clash on the back of an eleven-game unbeaten streak across all competitions, although six of these have ended in draws. In addition, Besiktas have kept a clean sheet in four of their last five competitive fixtures. Cenk Tosun has been Besiktas’s topman throughout this Champions League group stage campaign, providing four goals and two assists for the team.

Besiktas Team News

Atinc Nukan and Gokhan Tore are both missing through injury, but Denys Boyko and Veli Kavlak are both back in training.
