Queens Park Rangers vs Wolverhampton Wanderers Match Prediction

By Gary Gillles

This Saturday afternoon (15:00) fixture sees the league leaders Wolves travelling to Loftus Road. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats. QPR continued their recent struggles as they were held to a 1-1 draw by bottom placed side Bolton. They needed a 78th minute goal from Idrissa Sylla to enable them to rescue a point in this fixture. Wolves won 3-2 in their last league game as a Leo Bonatini brace (one penalty) and one from Ivan Cavaleiro enabled them to claim victory over Preston. In midweek, they were in League Cup action against Man City and put in an excellent shift to hold the Premier League leaders to a goalless draw before going down on penalties. The last time these sides met at Loftus Road was last season and the Rs won that game 2-1. In fact, five of the last six meetings between the pair have been won the away team and just two of their last ten by the home outfit.

Betting Tips and Predictions

I am usually a little cautious backing against QPR against big teams as they tend to be the kind of side who are set up to play well against stronger opponents and in games with Cardiff and Middlesbrough they ran them close. Wolves though are a step above anything in the division right now and I think they look a good bet to come out on top here despite a game in midweek with Man City they have should have enough depth and talent to come through In Jota, Bonatini and Cavaleiro the Midlands side have a front three the envy of any side in the division. Any of these are capable of scoring but with the latter available at the biggest price he is the suggestion to score at any time.

Queens Park Rangers Preview

Just five points from their last seven games has seen the Hoops stuck in the bottom-half of the Championship table. They are about to embark on a tricky run of matches with six of their next eight against teams currently in the top ten. At Loftus Road, the form has been strong with three victories, two draws and one defeat which came against Fulham in their last home match. Four of the last five have seen both teams score and gone over 2.5 goals. Ten of the 13 QPR have played in the Championship this campaign has featured a total of two or three goals. Just 37.5% of their goals have come in the opening half with just 25% in the first 30 minutes.

Wolverhampton Wanderers Preview

It is now three straight league victories for Wolves and five from their last six as they sit top of the Championship table. This marks the start of a kind run of matches with eight of the next 11 against teams currently outside the top ten. Away from Molineux, they have looked strong with four victories, one draw and one defeat from six matches. Only Sunderland have netted more road goals than Wolves while along with Millwall they have the top rated away defence. In their 13 games, the Black Country outfit have only been behind once at half-time though they have been level on six occasions going into the interval. Around 58% of their goals have come in the second-half with 25% of them coming in the final 15 minutes.

Wolverhampton Wanderers Team News

Carl Ikeme and Willy Boly (both hamstring) are near to returns while Phil Ofosu Ayeh (hip) is out until the new year.
