Queens Park Rangers vs Preston North End Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Saturday afternoon (15:00) fixture features an 11th place Preston side who could still mathematically finish in the play-offs at QPR.  Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

QPR were in action on Tuesday night beating Sheffield Wednesday in a six-goal thriller coming on top 4-2.  Idrissa Sylla grabbed a brace including one penalty while Paul Smyth and Jake Bidwell netted one each in a game they deserved to win.

Preston put to an end a three-game losing run in midweek with a 3-1 home victory over Leeds.  Sean Maguire, Alan Browne and a Paul Gallagher penalty helped them secure a deserved three points.

The reverse fixture came in early December and North End won that one 1-0 thanks to a Jordan Hugill goal.  The game also saw the Rs have Jamie Mackie and Alex Baptiste dismissed.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Preston are favourites to win the game as they have something at stake but that does not pay respect to a QPR side who have won five and lost just one of their last seven matches at home.  I think the home side with the safety of the draw no bet market looks the best way to play this game.

A draw will do North-End no good so they must look to win the fixture as time goes on which should also allow the Rs a few more chances.  The recommended bet then is to take the second 45 minutes to be the highest scoring half.

Queens Park Rangers Preview

The Rs have lost just two of their last eight as manager Ian Holloway seems to have found the right formula going into the end of season.  The London outfit have nothing to play for but still must face two promotion hopefuls and a relegation threatened side.

At Loftus Road, they are performing well winning three straight and five of their last seven matches.  Four of their last five in the league in front of their own fans have seen both teams find the back of the net.

Five of the last six QPR have played have not only gone over 2.5 goals but 3.5 goals with their last three fixtures alone producing 15 goals.  It is now six in a row against Preston without victory for the Hoops.

Queens Park Rangers Team News

Joel Lynch (hamstring) and Grant Hall (knee) are doubts while Jamie Mackie (back surgery) and David Wheeler (ankle) are long-term absentees.  Nedum Onuoha will miss the game through suspension.

Preston North End Preview

Three defeats from their last four games has made it hard for the Lilywhites to get into the top six but they are still not out of the running.  It seems unlikely as they five points and five places behind Millwall but if they win their last four then you never know.

Away from Deepdale, they have lost their last two though prior to that were unbeaten in five.  The Lancashire side have the joint-fourth best road attacking record in the Championship this season.

Sean Maguire is in good goalscoring form with eight goals netted from his last 11 league appearances.  Around 71% of the goals they have scored this season have come in the second-half.
