Queens Park Rangers vs Leeds United Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Saturday afternoon (15:00) Championship fixture features two sides in opposite halves of the table. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

QPR put to an end a six-game winless run last time out as they defeated Birmingham 2-1 at St Andrew’s. They had a Jack Robinson brace to thank as they claimed all three points that the expected goals data suggests was a little fortunate. Bristol City wrapped up their fourth victory in a row as they defeated Nottingham Forest 2-1 at Ashton Gate thanks to a goal each from Marlon Pack and Joe Bryan. In midweek, they were in League Cup action and had a massive result as they defeated Man United 2-1 with a goal each from Joe Bryan and Korey Smith. The two meetings between these sides last season saw one victory each with the Robins winning 2-1 in Bristol while the Rs won 1-0 in London. Idrissa Sylla netted in both these matches.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Given their excellent away form and their League Cup success Bristol City will be a popular bet this weekend but I will not be recommending anyone to get involved. QPR make a habit of bloodying the noses of the bigger sides at their own ground and have already defeated Wolves and Sheffield United here and will want to beat the side who beat Man United. Both teams have scored around 60% of their goals this season in the second-half so back these to be the highest scoring 45 minutes. In addition, back the game to have a late goal as 40% of the home team goals have come in the final 15 minutes and 30% for the away side.

Queens Park Rangers Preview

Prior to victory last time out QPR had taken just one point from their previous six fixtures a run that has seen them fall to 18th. Three of their four fixtures over the holiday period are against top eight sides while the other is a London derby against Millwall. At Loftus Road, they have taken just one point from their last three games but overall have won five and lost just three of 11 at home this season. Five of their last six in the league and nine of their last 11 in all competitions in front of their own fans have seen both teams score and gone over 2.5 goals. 11 of the last 12 goals in their matches have come in the second-half with seven of these coming in the final ten minutes. 60% of the goals they have scored this season have come after the break and 40% in the closing 15 minutes.

Queens Park Rangers Team News

James Perch (dislocated kneecap) is back in training while Darnell Furlong (knee) and Steven Caulker (unknown) are doubts. Jamie Mackie will sit out his final game of a suspension.

Leeds United Preview

A run of four straight victories has allowed the Robins to keep pace with Wolves and Cardiff in third place. After a couple of upcoming games that they might expect to win (this one and at home to Reading) they then face leaders Wolves and fifth place Aston Villa. Away from Ashton Gate, only Wolves have picked up more points having won six, drawn four and lost just one match. The 19 goals they have scored on the road is the most of any Championship team this season. Each of their last five matches have seen both teams find the back of the net and gone over 2.5 goals. Jamie Paterson has four goals this season and has netted in two of his last three appearances.

Leeds United Team News

Callum O’Dowda (ankle) is a long-term absentee while Gary O’Neil, Jens Hegeler, Ivan Lucic, Famara Diedhiou (all knee) and Eros Pisano (hamstring) are all doubts.
