Queens Park Rangers vs Burton Albion Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Saturday afternoon (15:00) game features two sides who have won one, drawn one and lost one of their last three Championship games. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats. QPR were not in midweek action so have had a week to bounce back from their 3-2 loss away to Middlesbrough last time out. The Rs twice took the lead firstly through David Wheeler and then again via Jamie Mackie but they could not stop Boro from taking all three points. Burton were in League Cup action as they travelled to Old Trafford to take on Man United in a game that they were outclassed 4-1 with a late Lloyd Dyer consolation. In the league, they sprung a shock by beating Fulham 2-1 at the Pirelli Stadium with Stephen Warnock and Lukas Akins (penalty) getting their goals. Albion claimed all three points at Loftus Road last season with a 2-1 victory while the game at the Pirelli Stadium ended 1-1. These fixtures were the first time this pair had met in league action.

Betting Tips and Predictions

I know they have produced some good results at Loftus Road this season but QPR are far too short here and Burton should be backed. The Brewers have picked up with four points from their last two games and represent value with the draw in the double chance market. Given that three of their last four at Loftus Road have seen both teams find the back of the net then I think this looks worth a little interest to happen here.

Queens Park Rangers Preview

Despite worries over relegation it has been a solid start to the season for QPR who sit in 11th place after eight games with 11 points. Form has been mixed recently with two victories, one draw and two defeats from their last five. At home, they have won three and drawn one with Hull and Reading among the sides they have defeated at Loftus Road this season. Both teams to score and over 2.5 goals have been a feature of these ties with this happening in each of their last three in front of their own fans. Jamie Mackie and Matt Smith are their leading goal getters in the league with three each. Eight of the 12 the Hoops have netted this season have come at home while just four of the 12 they have shipped have come at their own ground.

Queens Park Rangers Team News

Jordan Cousins and Joel Lynch (both hamstring) are doubts while James Perch (dislocated kneecap), Grant Hall (knee) and Nedum Onuoha (hamstring) are ruled out.

Burton Albion Preview

Eight points from their opening eight games sees Burton in 19th and the Brewers will likely take that at the end of the season. They have taken four points from their last two league fixtures and lost just one of their last five. On the road, they have taken just one point but this has been a tough run of games that has seen them forced to play Norwich, Middlesbrough, Leeds and Hull. They have netted just once in these matches and shipped a total of 11 goals. 66% of their league goals this campaign have come in the second-half though none of them have come in the final 15 minutes. Albion have not been ahead at half-time in any of their games this season.

Burton Albion Team News

Liam Boyce (cruciate) is unlikely to feature again this year.
