Queens Park Rangers vs Brentford Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Monday evening (19:45) game is an all London affair between two sides in the bottom-half of the Championship and is live on SKY TV. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

QPR lost their third straight in midweek as they went down 2-0 away to Derby. The Rs can have few complaints about the result as they were undone by a goal either side of the interval. Brentford will have been disappointed with their result in midweek as they were held to a 1-1 home draw by struggling Burton. They were on course for victory when Florian Jozefzoon gave them a 54th minute lead but the scorers were levelled in the 78th minute and that was how things finished. The two meetings between the pair last season were controlled by the Bees who won 3-1 at their own ground and 4-1 at Loftus Road. Brentford midfielder Josh Clarke has netted in two of his last three against QPR.

Betting Tips and Predictions

The Bees are the favourites for this game and while I think they are the better side I cannot be siding with them at that price when they have three road wins all season and two of those came against sides in the bottom four. Nine of the last 12 the visitors have scored have come in the second-half while 55% of goals for the home team this season have been after the break so have a small play on the second-half to be the highest scoring. Josh Clarke has two in his last three for Brentford against QPR and I think he looks worth an each-way play in the first goalscorer market.

Queens Park Rangers Preview

QPR are proving to be wildly inconsistent beating Wolves and Sheff United back-to-back before going on a three-game losing run. They sit in 16th place and must take advantage of a run of matches that means none of their next five are against top 12 teams. At Loftus Road, it has been mixed lately with three victories, one draw and three defeats from their last seven. Seven of nine at their own ground this season have seen both teams find the back of the net. In five of their last six the Rs have conceded a goal in the opening half while in each of their last three one has come just before the break. 55% of their goals have come in the second-half with 30% in the final 15 minutes.

Queens Park Rangers Team News

Massimo Luongo (illness) and Jordan Cousins (knock) are doubts. James Perch (dislocated kneecap) and Nedum Onuoha (hamstring) are long-term absentees while Grant Hall (knee) is unlikely to play again this season.

Brentford Preview

Defeat to Cardiff and a draw with Burton has put the brakes on a little on the Bees recent good form that before that had seen them win three straight. The London outfit were in 13th ahead of the weekend fixtures and have none of their next five against teams in the top 12 of the table. Away from Griffin Park, they are in good shape with three victories, a draw and one defeat from their last five. They have netted a total of ten times from these last five matches on their travels. Nine of the last 12 goals that Brentford have scored have come in the second-half with five of these coming in the last 20 minutes. Six of the last nine they have conceded have come in the first-half.

Brentford Team News

Henrik Dalsgaard (heel) is a doubt while Alan Judge (leg) and Rico Henry (knee) are long-term absentees.
