Queens Park Rangers vs Blackburn Rovers Match Prediction

By Marius Hrebenciuc

Queens Park Rangers and Blackburn Rovers will square off at the Loftus Road Stadium on Saturday afternoon in the FA Cup, as both sides will look to build on their recent victories in the Championship. Queens Park Rangers won 2-1 at home over Ipswich Town on Monday in the Championship, thanks to two goals from Idrissa Sylla and Pawel Wszolek. Meanwhile, Blackburn Rovers also managed a narrow 1-0 home win over Newcastle United last time out in the Championship, with Charlie Mulgrew scoring the goal for Owen Coyle’s team. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news and match stats all in our SBAT preview.

Queens Park Rangers Preview

After an awful losing streak between the end of November to the end of December, QPR have finally managed to put their Championship campaign back on track. They have recorded back-to-back 2-1 victories over Wolverhampton Wanderers and Ipswich Town. The Hoops find themselves in 17th position in the Championship table tied on 29 points with the 16th-placed Wolves, just five points clear of the relegation zone. Scoring goals has been QPR’s biggest problem throughout this Championship campaign, as they have one of the worst offensive records in the division with just 24 goals scored in 25 rounds. Despite this poor record Idrissa Sylla has enjoyed a decent campaign, having scored 6 goals in his 17 league appearances. Their home form has also been a problem, as the R’s have only won three of their last ten home fixtures across all competitions. Furthermore, QPR are winless in their six home meetings with Blackburn Rovers in all competitions, scoring just five goals in the process. QPR’s recent record in the FA Cup has been awful, as they have only won once in their last seven games in the competition. They were eliminated in the first rounds of the competition in their last three attempts.

Blackburn Rovers Preview

Blackburn Rovers have also had problems in the Championship over the past few months, but enter the fray on a high following their unexpected 1-0 home victory over Newcastle United on Monday. Despite this result, Blackburn are still in the relegation zone in the League table, as they sit in 22nd place with 24 points to their name after 25 rounds. Keeping the ball out of their own net has been Blackburn’s main issue throughout this Championship campaign, as they hold the 3rd worst defensive record in the division with 40 goals conceded in 25 rounds. Their away form has also been a problem, as Blackburn Rovers have only won three of their last 15 away games across all competitions. The good news is that Blackburn are unbeaten in their six visits to the Loftus Road Stadium, winning once and drawing five in the process. The Rovers managed to reach the 5th round of the FA Cup last year when they were thrashed 1-5 at home by West Ham. Their away form in the FA Cup over the past three years has been decent, losing just once in eight away games. Sam Gallagher and Danny Graham have been Blackburn’s most in-form players throughout their Championship campaign, as the pair have bagged 18 goals between them.

Queens Park Rangers Team News

Steven Caulker, Tjaronn Chery, Sebastian Polter, Massimo Luongo, Jack Robinson and Idrissa Sylla are all doubts, while Conor Hudnott is out with an injury.

Craig Conway, Adam Henley and Ben Marshall are all doubts, while Tommy Hoban and Elliott Ward are both missing through injury. In addition, Darragh Lenihan is out through suspension.

Betting Predictions and Tips

Both teams head into this clash on a high following their recent victories in the Championship, so I’m expecting a tough and well-contested affair. The previous three games between these two teams have seen goals at both ends of the pitch, and I think this will also be the case in this match.
