PSV Eindhoven vs Feyenoord Match Prediction

By Marius Hrebenciuc

PSV Eindhoven will be aiming to get back to winning ways in the Eredivisie when they welcome the reigning champions Feyenoord at the Philips Stadion on Sunday afternoon. PSV Eindhoven suffered a disappointing 2-0 loss on the road at SC Heerenveen last time out, with Phillip Cocu’s men conceding both goals in the first six minutes of the game before Hirving Lozan’s red car 30 minutes later. On the other hand, Feyenoord picked up a comfortable 2-4 victory on the road at Heracles last weekend thanks to a brace from Steven Berghuis and other two goals from Jean-Paul Boetius and Sam Larsson. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news and match stats all in our SBAT preview.

Betting Predictions and Tips

Both teams need to rediscover themselves after the recent defeats, but PSV’s players need show some commitment to the club, particularly after losing both home and away at the hands of Feyenoord last season. PSV Eindhoven Preview

PSV Eindhoven’s 100% perfect start to the season ended last weekend as they lost 2-0 on the road at SC Heerenveen. Prior to this result, PSV registered back-to-back victories over AZ Alkmaar, NAC Breda, and Roda JC Kerkrade. PSV have scored nine goals in the opening three games, but they looked terrible going forward against Heerenveen last weekend. The main problem is that the both strikers Luuk de Jong and Jurgen Locadia are far from their top form. The latter has scored 46 goals for PSV between 2014 and 2016, but he only managed to find the back in eight occasions last season. Hirving Lozano has been PSV Eindhoven’s most dangerous player in front of goal in this early part of the season, but the 22-year-old striker is unavailable for this clash after seeing the red card last weekend. PSV Eindhoven can definitely count on their home form over the past eleven months as they are undefeated in the last 16 home fixtures in the Eredivisie, while winning 14 in the process. Furthermore, PSV Eindhoven have won two of their last three home meetings with Feyenoord in the Eredivisie, scoring at least three goals in each of these.

PSV Eindhoven Team News

Luuk Koopmans is out through a shoulder injury, while Hirving Lozano is missing through suspension.

Feyenoord Preview

Feyenoord looked incredibly strong in this early part of their domestic season as they have won the Dutch Super Cup a month ago and followed this up with four consecutive wins in the Eredivisie. However, PSV were unable to secure a positive result against Manchester City in their Champions League midweek clash, but, in fact, they have suffered a humiliating 0-4 home loss. The Rotterdammers sit comfortably at the top of the Eredivisie table with twelve points under their belts after four rounds, three points clear of the second-placed Vitesse. Feyenoord have been impressive going forward throughout the season as they currently hold the best-attacking record in the division, scoring 12 goals in four games. Wingers Jean-Paul Boetius and Steven Berghuis have both impressed in this early part of the season, as the pair bagged seven goals and two assists between them. Jens Toornstra has also played a vital part in Feyenoord’s recent performance, helping the team with two goals and two assists. Away from home, Feyenoord have only lost five of their last 15 games across all competitions and have won their both league trips so far this season.

Feyenoord Team News

Nicolai Jorgensen, Bilal Basacikoglu and Ridgeciano Haps are all doubts, but Bart Nieuwkoop and Kenneth Vermeer are both missing through injury. The good news is that Sven van Beek is back in training following his foot injury.
