Preston North End vs Leeds United Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Tuesday evening (19:45) fixture features two sides in the middle third of the Championship table.  Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Preston suffered their third successive defeat as they went down to a 1-0 loss away at Reading.  The expected goals data suggests the result was harsh on the Lilywhites who created more chances but could not convert.

Leeds were held to a 1-1 draw with Sunderland last time out in a game they were lucky to take a point from.  They levelled in the 72nd minute through Pablo Hernandez and then had Gaetano Beradi sent-off at the end.

The reverse fixture came in August and it ended in a goalless draw that Leeds controlled but could not find a breakthrough. United are now unbeaten in their last seven meetings with North-End.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Preston look far too short given they have won just one of their last five though I watched Leeds against Sunderland at the weekend and they were poor so I would not be getting involved in the match markets.

Neither side are full of confidence so back this game to have to wait for goals might be the best advice.  Take this fixture to have no early goal with the time of the market set at 30:00 while also take the game to be level going into the interval.

Preston North End Preview

Three straight defeats and four in their last five means that North-End are far removed from the play-offs.  They are now down to 11th and six points away from Middlesbrough who are in sixth.

At Deepdale, they have won just one of their last five with three of the last four ending in a defeat.  Sean Maguire has two in his last three in front of his own fans while Alan Browne has three in five.

Five of the last seven Championship matches Preston have played have seen a total of two or three goals scored.  Only two sides have been level more going into the break then Preston who have been all-square in 20 of 41.

Leeds United Preview

It is now just one victory in the last seven for the Whites and a poor two from their last 17 fixtures.  They sit in 13th place and what at one stage looked like a promising season has since fizzled out.

Away from Elland Road, they have struggled of late with no victory from their last eight losing five of these.  Four of their last five on the road have gone over 2.5 goals with the other fixture having two goals.

Pablo Hernandez is in good goalscoring form with three in his last five appearances.  The Spaniard along with Kemar Roofe has netted in two of the last three meetings between these sides.

Leeds United Team News

Eunan O’Kane (groin), Adam Forshaw, Matthew Pennington (both calf), Liam Cooper (thigh) and Tyler Roberts (shin) are doubts while Conor Shaughnessy and Luke Ayling (both ankle) are long-term absentees.  Gaetano Beradi will miss the game through suspension.
