Preston North End vs Fulham Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Saturday afternoon (15:00) fixture features two sides in the race for promotion from the Championship. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Preston made it back-to-back victories with a 2-1 defeat of Bristol City at Deepdale on Tuesday night. Alan Browne put them ahead and Sean Maguire came off the bench to grab a third in two games to help them secure all three points. Fulham stretched their Championship record to 14 games unbeaten as they defeated Sheffield United 3-0 at Craven Cottage in midweek. Aleksandar Mitrovic grabbed a brace to make it five in four games while Tom Cairney netted the other. The reverse fixture came in mid-October in London and it ended in a 2-2 draw their third meeting from the last six to finish all-square. Jordan Hugill and Sean Magurie put the Lillywhites two up after 25 minutes but the Cottagers fought back to claim a point thanks to an Oliver Norwood penalty and Dennis Odoi.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Fulham are the form team of the moment and although Preston do not lose many at home at these prices I am willing to back the Cottagers on the road to record a victory like they have done recently at Middlesbrough and Derby. Aleksandar Mitrovic was described in midweek as good enough to go to the World Cup by Chris Wilder and I think he looks great anytime goalscorer value while also keep an eye out on him to score two or more goals.

Fulham to win the game

Aleksandar Mitrovic to score at any time.

Preston North End Preview

The Lilywhites have lost just one of their last ten and two of their last 20 league games that sees them in the hunt for a top six finish. They are one point behind Middlesbrough with only three of their ten remaining fixtures against a top ten side. At Deepdale, their form has been mixed of late with two victories, two draws and two defeats. Four of their last five and six of their last seven in front of their own fans have seen both teams find the back of the net. 66% of the league goals that Preston have scored this season have come in the second-half with 49% in the final 30 minutes. Just 14 of the 35 they have conceded this season have come in the opening half.

Preston North End Team News

Tom Clarke (knock) is their only doubt ahead of this game.

Fulham Preview

The Cottagers are in red-hot form winning 11 and drawing three of their 14 Championship fixtures. They are into fourth and with just two top ten opponents to play between now and the end of the season will still have hopes they can crack the top two. Away from Craven Cottage, they are unbeaten in their last seven though three of these have ended in draws. No side has scored more road goals than their 30 though they have also shipped 25 on their travels. Aleksandar Mitrovic was called a Premier League talent far too good for this level by opposition boss Chris Wilder in midweek as his brace against Sheffield United made it five in four. Ryan Sessegnon is also in good form having grabbed seven in his last nine.

Fulham Team News

Tomas Kalas (hip) is their only doubt ahead of this game.
