Partick Thistle vs St.Johnstone Match Prediction

By Gary Gillles

Partick Thistle remain rooted to the bottom of the table after a goalless draw with Hamilton. Kris Doolan came up with the best opportunity of the game and struck the woodwork, but Partick Thistle were unable to push on and get that decisive breakthrough to move away from the 12th position. St Johnstone’s winless run now stands at four matches after a goalless draw with the Ross County. The two teams had a decent set of chances to get a victory, but failure to convert this half chances once again hurt St Johnstone.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Partick Thistle have had a strong record especially on the travels to the McDiarmid Park, as they have been able to claim four wins in the last six. Surprisingly, their home record against St Johnstone is significantly weaker with just two wins in the last six. St Johnstone come into this game on a horrendous run of form, and they have lost the last three away games. I would go with a win for Partick Thistle given the slight edge in recent form. St Johnstone have not scored in the last four matches. They are up against a Partick Thistle outfit who have also not been outstanding in this regard. Both teams have scored less than a goal per game in the last six matches. I would go with this game to see a total of under 2.5 goals.

Partick Thistle Preview

Partick Thistle have been stuck to the bottom of the table for several weeks, but the club are finally showing signs of improvement in form after managing to pick up the first win of the season and also drawing against Hamilton on the road. Partick Thistle will take comfort from the team remaining just a point behind safety and the jumping several places in the league table. If the club had been cut adrift even before Christmas, it would have been a disaster for the club. Partick Thistle have conceded the highest number of goals (19) in the division so far. Chris Erskine and Blair Spittal are the leading scorers at the club with three goals each.

Partick Thistle Team News

Partick Thistle will be without Callum Booth (cruciate ligament), Christie Elliott (ankle), and Abdul Osman (knee) due to injury.

St.Johnstone Preview

St Johnstone continue to struggle and slip down the table following a poor run of form that has been in place for almost a month. Since the 2-1 victory over Hamilton, St Johnstone have picked up just one point from four matches. The club has been unable to find the back of the net in this period. St Johnstone were riding on the form of Michael O’Halloran in the early part of the campaign, but even the return of the winger has been unable to improve the fortunes. The struggles in front of goal seems to be the decisive problem for St Johnstone, and the club has netted just 13 in 11 matches this season. O’Halloran remains the leading scorer with five goals.

St.Johnstone Team News

Tommy Wright does not have injuries or suspensions coming into the game.
