Paris Saint-Germain vs SC Bastia Match Prediction

By Marius Hrebenciuc

Paris Saint-Germain will be aiming to close the gap at the top of the Ligue 1 table when they welcome SC Bastia at the Parc des Princes on Saturday afternoon. Paris Saint-Germain were beaten 3-1 on the road at Nice last time out, but the most worrying fact is that Thiago Motta and Angel Di Maria both saw the red card in the stoppage time. Meanwhile, SC Bastia managed a hard-fought 1-0 home win over Rennes last weekend thanks to a second-half goal from Enzo Crivelli. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news and match stats all in our SBAT preview.

Betting Predictions and Tips

PSG should be able to return to winning ways here as their home form throughout this 2016/17 competitive season has been impeccable. Furthermore, PSG are undefeated in their 14 home meetings with Bastia across all competitions, conceding just six goals in this term. This having been said, I’m backing PSG to grab all three points here, but for better value I’m expecting them to keep a clean sheet.

Paris Saint-Germain Preview

Paris Saint Germain’s 16-game unbeaten streak in Ligue 1 ended last weekend as they suffered an unexpected 3-1 defeat on the road at Nice. Actually, PSG were on a nine-game winning streak across all competitions prior to their loss at the hands of Nice. PSG still sit in second place in the Ligue 1 table, but they are now three points of the current leaders Monaco, who have a game in hand. Despite conceding three goals against Nice last weekend, PSG still hold the best defensive record in the division with just 26 goals conceded in 35 rounds. On home soil, les Parisiens are undefeated in 17 home league fixtures this season, winning 12 and drawing five in the process. Furthermore, PSG have only conceded six goals in their 17 games at Parc des Princes this season. In addition, Paris Saint-Germain are undefeated in 14 home meetings with SC Bastia across all competitions, while winning twelve in the process. Furthermore, PSG already beat Bastia twice this season in all competitions, scoring eight goals and conceding none in this term. Edinson Cavani is a player to watch here, as the 30-year-old striker has enjoyed an excellent campaign, leading the Ligue 1’s goalscoring charts with 31 goals under his belt.

Paris Saint-Germain Team News

Layvin Kurzawa, Jean Kevin Augustin and Maxwell are all doubts, while Presnel Kimpembe is missing through suspension. However, Javier Pastore, Grzegorz Krychowiak and Hatem Ben Arfa are all back in training.

SC Bastia Preview

SC Bastia were in a terrible 14-game winless streak across all competitions between the middle of December 2016 to the beginning of April 2017, but they looked a little bit better over the past few weeks. The Corsicans have won two of their last three league outings, including a hard-fought 1-0 home victory over Rennes last time out. Bastia still sit on the bottom place of the league table, but they are now just two points behind safety. Scoring goals has definitely been Bastia’s main issue throughout the season as they hold the second worst attacking record in the division with just 27 goals scored in 34 rounds. Despite this negative record, Enzo Crivelli has enjoyed a decent Ligue 1 campaign as he is leading the club’s goalscoring charts with 9 goals in his 21 league appearances. Their away form throughout this Ligue 1 campaign has been another reason for their struggle, as the Corsicans are the second worst away team in the division with just 10 points collected from their 17 league trips. In addition, Bastia are winless in their 14 visits to the Parc des Princes, scoring just six goals in the process.
